NEW VERSION - For the price you cannot get any better

Speakers arrived today. Good packaging, simple and effective.I did a lot of research into which speakers to get - I was tempted by M-Audio Studiophile AV 40 and Creative Gigaworks T40, but I thought that the drivers wouldn't be big enough to handle bass properly. The picture shows the old version of these speakers - the version I received had speakers that look like:[...](main difference being the on-board controls on the right side of the right speaker) and, strangely, the remote in this picture: [...].So far, I have tested them with music, keyboards (a synth and a more traditional piano type keyboard) and games.Volume - these speakers are LOUD. They have a digital display on the right speaker, very classy looking, and it goes up to 60. I can go to about 40 without it hurting my ears at PC sitting distance. I reckon these will do a decent job for a TV, but I can't be sure.Size - HUGE. Tall, deep, not super wide. Make sure you have the space for these - I measured up beforehand and am still surprised at their immensity. I like it though! Look very cool next to my huge monitor.Music - I'm a musician, and I appreciate good quality sound, though I wouldn't call myself an audiophile. I A/B'd these with my B&W P5 headphones, which are really good, and they didn't come off badly at all(I know I am comparing apples and oranges with headphones and speakers btw). They have really good bass, enough for me (my test is Diesel Power by The Prodigy and it sounds amazing on these!). For 90% of people I would say these have enough bass. Mids are clear, so are the highs... I'm not great at descibing sound but they do not sound cheap, they sound far better than their price tag suggests. I'm very happy with them for music.Keyboards - Tested with my synth with crazy low sub-bass synth sounds. Sounds OK, verging on good. These speakers aren't really made for that so the fact that they can do a passable job is a positive. For normal keyboard sounds it's great - plenty of power, good clarity.Games - tested with Bioshock infinite. Explosions sound great. A sub would probably do a better job for explosions but this does fine on it's own - I don't feel like I'm missing out. Directionality is very good too. Very immersive.Looks - looks very good, I know it's made from cheap materials with a thin fake covering (forgot what it's called) but it does look convincing. very surprised at how good it looks in the flesh.Haven't experienced any particular hiss or pop sounds. The speaker connect cable is a little cheap (though it includes banana plugs! - oh and a cable for connecting to a PC) and was rattling at first but I tightened it up and it's sorted now.All in all, I am mightily impressed. Looks good, sounds good, insanely low price, loud enough for most room sizes... there is literally nothing to dislike here. Hopefully all orders from Amazon will now be the new units as the upgrades are very nice (better remote, on-board volume, bass and treble controls, no problems with having both inputs plugged in at same time)

Best quality you can get for the price

I really love this product. The sound quality is amazing and even though I don't usually host parties at my house, they're really powerful. The build quality seems really good and the cables also are very strong.I don't like the remote very much as you need to be close to the speakers and directed right at them in order to work, but I've connected them to a PC, turned the volume to max and I control it from the PC sound settings ( keyboard shortcut ), so this isn't a problem for me.I've had a lot of sound systems until now, both 2.0, 2.1 and 5.1, but nothing can compare to the Microlab 7C from my experience. The price is also really low.

I won't recommend

I think its the first time when it happens to me, I thought it will be the best business buying these speakers and after I took them out of the box... I've seen all the defects as sound quality being worst I could expect. I have the old pro2 from Microlab and those sound better than these which are double size. Also scratched on the corners and around the bass and also in the other points.

Better than the price suggests

This is the 2nd set from Microlab, that I have purchased (the FC330 being the other set) and I must say, they are definitely worth the money. If I had to be picky, I'd say that the lower bass could be marginally improved. But, having said that, I am using them with an active subwoofer, and between them, the sound is perfect for my needs (music & music composition)They are quite large, so keep that in mind, should you decide to purchase these. With regards the build quality ... they are excellently put together. The left speaker (which contains the amplifier) has 3 controls on it's right side ... Volume, Bass & Treble. The on/off switch is on the rear panel, as are the RCA connectors & right speaker output connectors. A nice quality cable (with plugs fitted) is also supplied, as is an RCA lead, with which to connect to a PC, or any other 3.5mm output connector. The remote is a little flimsy, but it does the job fine. I have had these for a couple of weeks now, and have had no issues with them whatsoever.Oh, I should point out that they are more than capable of filling quite large rooms with clear, undistorted sound. Highly recommended. :)

good deal, great speakers

Really nice speakers, speaker wire joining them together is only 2.5 m long. Remote is rather flimsy but you can still operate the speakers on 1 input channel without it using on board pots. Only has 2 rca inputs routes av and pc so may not be compatible with newer digital coax and toslink devices, unless you buy a powered adapter box. Recommended!UPDATEEveryone has been banging on that you're unable to change input sources on the speakers without the aid of the remote.THIS IS NOT THE CASE.The volume pot on the speaker clicks in and changes between AV and PC inputs.Might have helped if this had been mentioned on the instructions!
