Advanced Aircraft Systems

Best aviation system textbook I have ever seen
This book is one of the best aviation texts I have ever seen. The language is precise and extremely clear. The electrical explanation alone in Chapter 1 was incredible. It did a better job of understanding basic electrical concepts than all the educational electrical books that I am familiar with. I wish more of our educational texts were written with such precision and clarity.

Excellent Guide for Advanced Systems
4 Stars! Advanced Aircraft Systems, by David Lombardo, provides upgrading pilots with solid guidance on the function and application of new aircraft systems. Although some of the material really doesn't fit the description "advanced" (e.g. - the material included on electricity and electrical systems), it is nonetheless relevant to aircraft operations. In this book, Lombardo works his way through all of the systems that are likely to be found on aircraft ranging from advanced turbine singles up to commuter class turbine twins. The coverage is excellent for introductory to intermediate levels of knowledge, and is geared toward what pilots need to know for use, monitoring, and management of the systems during flight operations. Also recommended is Mr. Lombardo's Aircraft Systems.Steve[...]

No pictures in Kindle version
Good, well written book but the Kindle version has no pictures which makes the explanations difficult to understand at times. Formatting on Kindle version is terrible. Please remove this Kindle version until a proper product can be made available.

Outdated and dry
This book is 25 years old and outdated. It’s still got valuable information, but it’s dry reading and its content is geared more to flying or working on light twins than to the ATP pilot. Technology has changed a lot since 1993 - no discussion of modern cockpit or flight systems. If you’re thinking of buying this book to study for an airline interview like I did, save your money and get the much-better Turbine Pilot’s Flight Manual 3rd Edition published in 2016.

Don’t buy the Kindle version because it’s missing figures and pictures that help explain concepts.
