Madness Extension Cable: Gray - Sega Dreamcast

This is a retro-bit brand “retro cast” cable. New, in packaging that tells you this is a 6 foot cable, not 6.5 feet. It seems like a solid product, though the connected cables will pull apart easily, I fitted them together and wrapped them together with some duct tape. I believe that the “electronic connection is good, though. Seems to do the trick, now, but I think I saw the same cable cheaper, elsewhere on Amazon. Though I’m not 100% sure about that. I would suggest a little extra research to possibly save a few dollars, if it matters to you.

As the original cable for the Dreamcast was a little short to reach across the living room for comfortable gaming. I ordered the Madness cable extension and it has worked like a charm. A simple plug into the console and one to the controller and I can now comfortably play literally anywhere in the living room. This cable works as advertised, is simple to connect and gives the gamer the latitude for extra distance from their monitor or television screen. As TV screens get bigger and couches are further away from the television your game console becomes further away. Instead of buying a really long A/V cable which can affect video and sound output and having to put the console in the middle of the room, I purchased the Madness Extension Cable for the Dreamcast. I bought four, one for each controller port. The extrension works perfectly, easy to plug in and no loss of controller signal that could cause a delay in game play.

Tie the union between the controller's wire and the extension in a knot and put a zip tie around it and it'll never come apart, not that it should be a problem in the first place. I'm just thorough like that (and I have dogs that like to trip over wires). I'm finally free to sit anywhere in the room without worrying about controller wire slack. They were very cheap, and way easier than trying to extend your own wires.

So, I got these cables assuming they were "new." Well, they very well may be, but apparently because of the bulk packaging (they arrive with rubber bands on them), they get all kinds of dirt and abrasions from the way they are shipped to the seller. I almost returned these thinking they were used, but the seller provided a photo verifying how they receive them (in a big bag all lumped together).Also of note, the color of the cables is very "purple." Not the light gray/purple of the original controller, but more of a dark gray/purple that is clearly after market. I wouldn't say the fit is the best, either.Anyway, I decided to keep mine for my "old" controllers, but anyone looking for a new-looking, OEM-looking extension should look elsewhere. I am.

Now that we're used to wireless controllers, and like to sit back on the couch, Dreamcast controllers might feel a little bit too short.This extension cable is the perfect solution: Controller + Extension Cable = Comparable in length to an original Xbox controller.It also looks like if were an original Sega product, same design, same color.

No longer am I or my friends sitting on the floor 3 feet from the TV. We can now sit comfortably on the couch or chairs.

It works as expected, you plug it into the dreamcast and the other end goes to the controller.
