Has anyone else discovered that the end that swilves must be at the top when attached to a wind spinner. If hung upside down they will freez up.

No haven't noticed this. Both ends looked the same to me. Mine are spinning fine. Maybe I just got lucky and put them on right the first try.

What is the measurement of the hook at the opening?

The whole hook is 3 inches long one of the hooks itself is an inch long. hope this helped

Great swivels for decorative windsocks. They are nice additions to the garden and these swivels keeps the lines from tangling on windy days. They are good quality and sturdy enough for light weight decorations.
