Precise and Elegant Digital Wall Clock, Easy to Read, Great Value. A+++++
I recently purchased this Marathon Digital Wall Clock to replace an older analog quartz wall clock. The main reason for getting a digital one was that the old one tick-tocked LOUDLY. So far I am very pleased with the purchase of the Marathon Wall Clock. Here is my detailed review. Aesthetics and Out of the Box The Marathon clock came in a nice box, well packed. When I first took it out, I liked the clean look and nice finish of the clock. I ordered the White color, which has an 'Apple' type of clean look. The time setting buttons and alarm buttons are behind. It also has built in stands for using as a desk clock. Function Setting the time was easy. It came with a set of AA batteries, which were easy to install. There is a small instruction guide (why don't companies print BIGGER and easier to read instructions?) with clear step by step instructions. Overall very easy to set the time and get the clock going. I have used the clock for about 5-6 days and it is keeping perfect time. I compare the time to my iPhone clock and it is spot on so far. The clock also has readings for Month, Date, Day, Week, Inside Temp, and Moonphase. The date function is certainly useful. Before buying I did read some reviews about whether it is easy to read the time from various angles. I can tell you that the time is fairly legible from various angles and in low light conditions as well. There is no backlight, but I don't think it is needed. The time numbers are quite large and for someone like me who does not have great vision, I can tell you that it is very easy to read the time from 12 feet away. No problems at all. I can also read the time from the side so that you don't have to be standing directly in front. Summary Overall a very good value (so far). It certainly beats the tick-tock monster we had before, which my wife would take down and hide below the pillows since she could not stand the sound! The Marathon clock looks sophisticated and elegant. My only suggestion to the manufacturer would be: 1) Print the instruction manual on a bigger sheet of paper so I don't have to use reading glasses, and 2) The function and use of this clock would greatly improve if the BUTTONS were in FRONT of the clock. As a wall clock or desk clock, if you want to use the alarm function, you will need to access the buttons on the backside to turn off the alarm or set the alarm. However, if you intend to use the clock for time only, then it is not a big issue.

So Far So Good - Nice little clock
This is a nice little digital clock. Wanted a small clock for kids bathroom that showed the day of week and the date and this works perfectly. Instructions and programming are not complicated. Numbers that show time are big and no need to squint. The back of the clock is not flat like I thought it was when ordering but not disappointed either, there is a battery holder on back panel that also acts like a rest and the clock sits nicely on sink or ledge. Very pleased with this little clock.

"Love it" or "Hate it"? This may be helpful...
I almost didn't buy this clock because at first I didn't know what to make of the strange mix of good reviews and really bad ones. But the reasons became clearer after I bought it. Here's what seems to be going on. This is a pretty small clock (about 3 inches high by three inches wide) and it's meant mainly for bedside use or travel. Its good for those purposes but not for others. For example, unless you have amazing eyesight, you can't see the numbers from across the room. The display is also NOT back lit, which means once it gets dark, you can't see the time unless you press the light, which comes on for a few seconds and then turns off. I actually like these features in a bedside clock because I don't want extra light when I'm sleeping. But anyone looking for a clock they can use in a family room, with a display that's easy to see at all times, will likely be disappointed. Another criticism is that when it shows the date, the clock puts the day before the month. There is no option to change that setting to make it month/day. I don't use my clock to check the date but can see how that might annoy some folks. Several people also feel that the clock's set-up instructions are hard to follow out of the box. I don't know if the company updated these recently, but I found them pretty straightforward. The instructions are on one small page and involve just a few buttons -- a "set" button and two buttons with "up" and "down" arrows. The set up took me no more than two minutes. Finally, several reviewers also mention that the angle of the clock's face isn't ideal. I agree. If you're lying down, the angle makes the numbers hard to see without tipping the clock forward a bit. Not the end of the world but enough to drop a star off the rating. TO SUMMARIZE: Choose this clock mainly for bedside use and if you don't want to continuously see the display at night. It does a nice job, doesn't take up much room and looks good. But if you want a clock for more everyday use in a family room or elsewhere, this isn't it. Look for a bigger clock with a brighter display that is designed for those uses.

Clock cannot remember day or AM/PM
While the clock was cheap and had the features I wanted, it has issues keeping accurate date and time to an extent. It will work fine for days or even weeks, but sometimes it will add or remove a day, and/or flip from AM to PM or vice versa. For example, it is currently Tuesday, June 13 at 10:45 AM, but the clock reports Monday, June 12 at 10:45 PM despite showing the right date and time yesterday. It won't slowly lose time, it will simply change the date or time of day all of a sudden. Very odd, something is clearly wrong with the digital side of this device. I'm guessing there's some sort of bug that affects day transitions. The thermometer also appears to show as 2-3 degrees warmer than it really is, but that's far less of an issue. Overall I would recommend buying something else, I wouldn't trust this to keep accurate time. [Edit] The thermometer is about 1.5 degrees Fahrenheit too high, compared to a few known-good ones.

Cute clock
The clock is so nice! It seems a little complicated at first but after a while you get used to it. Although after having my clock for almost two years, the second year the date and day don't line up. I don't know if it's because of me or the clock. Still, it's a cute clock and tells me everything I need to know.

Ok clock but very small and back light does not stay on.
It's a cute clock with easy set up, however, reason for 3 stars is first...the size. It's not much bigger then a credit card honestly. Fits in the palm of your hand. The picture makes it appear much larger so that was a let down. Second, the blue back light you see does not stay on. You have to push the button to use it and it goes off a few seconds later which they don't tell you. It would have been perfect if it were a little larger and the light stayed on or atleast stayed on longer. At 2 am trying to find this in the dark being so small, and then finding the light button will be a challenge. If you plan on using this during the day only abd don't mind the tiny size you'll be ok!

Great vanity clock
I was looking for a clock for my vanity and this one is perfect. I had tried a few other clocks that weren't digital and they were loud so I thought I would try a digital clock. This clock is the perfect size to sit on my vanity. It isn't fancy but it's nice looking in the white. I didn't want a clock that would light up my bathroom at night and shine into my bedroom and this one only illuminates when you push the button. You can still read the time, it just isn't bright all the time. It's great to have the date shown when you get up in the morning. I'm not sure why I need to know what the inside temperature is, but now I know my bathroom is colder or warmer than the rest of the house. Overall I'm extremely pleased with this little clock and recommend it.

Well, it is a clock with an alarm...
I wanted a simple alarm clock with the option to just have the alarm work on weekdays. I don't consider this an alarm clock as it's pretty small and the display is not visible at night unless you activate the back light, which only stays on for about 5 seconds. For what this is, it's way overpriced. This is really a very cheap desk clock. It's also powered by a AA battery. I'm not sure if there is a low battery indicator so this probably isn't a good selection for everyday use. I thought this came with a cord/plug to connect to an outlet. From the comments, I'm not the only one to make this mistake. Some have complained about the date format, but this clock has the month/day. It also displays temperature, which is a pretty worthless feature to me. Overall, this is a waste of money.
