A great book for business developers
An in-depth look into what is exactly business development, based on the life experiences and understanding of a veteran in the subject. Although business development is not the field I work in, I enjoyed reading it. The book sheds a lot of light on the practical aspects of this field, in a coherent and enriching way. Great examples throughout the text, written clearly and with an exciting vibe.

Factual, linear and concise. A good technical overview especially if you have no BD experience
Simple and concise yet detailed enough to capture the essence of the job. A good read especially for those beginning or looking to move into a career in BD.

Small book; huge value
I personally extracted an extraordinary amount of value from this book. In fact, I wish more books were written this way. So often you get a business book that's 300 pages long but the science and/or summary points are made in the first 5 pages - that's where the value really is. The rest is often fodder or unnecessary depth. This book was direct, to the point, and replete with information I needed to formulate my own perspective on BD. I read it in 20 minutes but have referred back to it countless times.

Basic and short
very basic and does not go into real details. I gave it 3 stars as it was an excellent base fro writing a job description for a BD role

Action oriented. Great framework guide.
A great book to refresh your framework for business development. A short and refreshing read that covers all the essential. I used this book as a checkpoint when preparing to approach a potential client or starting a new partnership. I recommend it to anyone who already has some experience in business development and wishes to refresh it. Not many books go directly to the point as this one. Looking forward to a second edition adding more personal experiences!~

Fast read with quality content, clear messaging, and real-world examples. Scott Pollack is a well-respected leader in the Business Development field and I'm so glad to see that he's now sharing his expertise with everyone who is able to get their hands on this book. Great work Scott, and I hope you continue publishing books!

Focuses too heavily on partnerships
Very basic, which was helpful, but most of the book centers around developing partnerships, which the author identifies as only one of the three aspects of BD (Build, Buy, Partner). As I will not be focusing on partnerships in my work this was unhelpful.Additionally the book is badly edited. I was frequently distracted by typos, missing words, and senseless sentences. Author should have “partnered” with a good editor.
