This is the perfect size for my 8 yr old to keep in his backpack.Only negative I can say is it's not super easy to push up into the lock position for a kid. Hopefully it will loosen up and get easier with use.

This umbrella is fairly flimsy. The little plastic piece that you push on to collapse the umbrella broke the first time I tried to open it. I would save your money and time by purchasing one in a store where you can test it out.
