EuroSac Natural Cotton String Bag (1, Short Handle)

Bit disappointed after I received the item. I thought that it would be able to hold a pineapple, 4 bananas, 3 oranges, aaannd some other fruit like the photo displayed but the only way it can do so is if all the items are miniature size. I didn’t return it because the quality is good and for a quick run to the supermarket for a couple small items, it can do the trick. In the meantime, I use it as a small beach bag which cooperates well with the sand!

I've used this type of shopping bag for many, many years and prefer them to every other type I've come across. Of course you have the satisfaction of knowing you're helping the environment by not adding plastic grocery bags to the landfill. But there are many other benefits to a string bag: it scrunches up to become very small and easily carried in a purse/pocket; they expand to hold more items than you would want to lift with one hand; you can see what's in each bag easily; they are sturdy/last a long time and they are washable! These bags have been used for generations. Some things need no improvement and this is one of them. If you've never used a cotton string shopping bag you're missing out on a very useful product.

Having two of these is just perfect for me especially when walking and shopping the outdoor produce markets and carry-outs near my home and being able to divvy up the weight of my purchases for the mile or two walk home. When shopping's not on my schedule, I often put one of these in a coat pocket for "just in case." ..I've had two of these for at least a couple of years, but recently somebody made off with one of them. What a relief to find its twin here on Amazon, with a good price and quick delivery.Addenda, thanks to a recent customer inquiry: Please note that this particular bag is for carrying by hands and wrists, not shoulders.

My primary reason for searching out these bags was so I could wash them. I was concerned with the potential dirt/germs I was bringing home from the conveyor belt at the grocery store. Canvas bags were an ugly mass of wrinkles when washed...maybe ironing would have worked but there was no way I was about to start ironing grocery bags. I was concerned about the reviews that said these bags would shrink considerably but decided to give them a try anyway. I washed one today in warm water with my dark laundry & then laid it out on top of the dryer to air dry, pushing & pulling it out like a pizza dough to its (almost) original size. It only shrank a small, completely acceptable amount. I like using these in conjunction with the woven polyester totes that I found at Market Basket, also machine washable. The MB totes hold the small items that might slip through the holes in the string bags. It took me awhile to get used to the string bags not being rigid, but now I'm fine with it & you can tie the handles together if you want to contain things more. UPDATE: In responding to a question about handle length, I just looked at my bags, which I have had for a year now. I discovered that the HANDLES have shrunk in length so that I can no longer make a square knot to contain items more securely. Longer handles would be a real improvement in these sturdy little bags, which I still enjoy using.

A few years ago, I bought a couple of these in a bright pink color that have been my grocery shopping companions for about six years now. I must have put something that cut some of the strings of the bag, as I found myself with one that had several holes made that were obviously larger than the ones it naturally comes with. So, I ordered another when one of my bags gave up on me. What I mean is that for someone who uses them for every shopping trip and excursion to the farmer's market, these cotton bags have certainly done their duty over the years. I love they way I can stuff them full and still have room for more.

It can hold lots of heavy stuff! I use it for farmers market shopping and i didn't expect it can hold so many items and didn't feel heavy compare with other bags! Love!

Kind of flimsy and ugly olive color, but works. Don't think it'll last as long as the more expensive French versions. That's what I'll get next time. These are made in India, so don't let the Eurosac name fool you.

Every college student should have a couple of these. You can squash it into a ball about the size of a tennis ball and stick it in your pocket or backpack. Then save your hands the awkward strain when you pick up a bottle of milk and a couple boxes of cereal across campus. Or..... these will easily stretch to hold your basketball slung on your handlebars. Or... your gym clothes for a quick workout. They are the perfect catchall/carryall, ideal for whatever you need!
