Received it today, very well made, sturdy and yes it does hold water😂 caps are also well made and they screw on & off very good! I didn’t use the barrel wrench to open it, I used needle nose pliers, I opened the pliers wide enough to fit in the cap and twisted, very easy! There is a slight plastic smell but that’s from the new barrel being sealed, a quick rinse gets rid of it! I recommend this 100%! Update: be aware one cap is slightly larger than the other, when you remove them be sure to screw them in the correct hole!

I used my barrel to catch rain for my garden. You can get a nice pump to fit the barrel. Very convenient.

Living in a mobile home I felt more comfortable having these 30 gallon barrels that weigh about 240 filled as opposed to the 55 gallon barrels that weigh over 500 filled. With 30 gallons and the 1 gallon per person per day calculation its easy to get one barrel per month of emergency water I want to have for myself. I also recommend the plastic barrel buddy wrench, I had a metal one that tore the bungs up that didn't work as well. Make sure to get yourself a good siphon to go with the barrel too and a good water filter such as one of the berkey knockoffs. I also have a 5 gallon container to put water I'm taking out of the barrel after filtering for use as part of the system and some buckets to collect rainwater from my roof for new storage in an extended scenario.

Perfect size and great for backup water.

It’s a decent size and not too heavy while emptied. I was worried 30 Gallons was going to be small but it’s a pretty decent size barrel. I got this for water storage but oddly enough though the description says food grade barrel the barrel itself is stamped “not safe for drinking water” if I remember correctly. I figured it’ll be fine regardless as I’ll be running the water through a heavy duty filter anyways. Still odd though.

Perfect size for my needs. It does have two holes for access. The entire top does not come off. The only access are the two points on top that are roughly 2 to 2.5 inches wide.

I use it for gas and have it wratchet strapped to a dolly to move it where I need it. I don’t suggest doing this unless you have a safe place to store 30 gallons of gas. This amount of gas stored in the wrong place could be catastrophic. Be safe.
