Vermont Bread Soft White, 24 oz

I have been ordering this bread for at least 2 years now. It's my FAVORITE bread. It's always CONSISTENT.However, with this latest loaf -- did they change the recipe or something? The color was off. Not white, more on the tan side. The texture is not soft -- lots of small holes -- firm. Taste is sour and I can't exactly pinpoint it but it's just a funky aftertaste.I don't know WHAT happened whether this was a fluke or if this really is a new formulation. If it's a fluke then this really makes me question their quality assurance.

As you see, what was delivered was not the same as advertised, and it's most likely a substitute. The problem is this bread, unlike the regular one I ordered, just tastes lackluster, and it's very crumbly. I've looked all over it for an expiration date but have not found one. When I bought this in the past, it came and advertised and it tasted fresh. This is not a reflection of the actual bread in the advertisement, but rather of it's substitution, which I couldn't find on whole foods to review. In the future, I'll certainly check the box on this one that says "do not substitute."

This bread freezes really well for toast or out-of-bread sandwich emergencies. I make most of the bread we eat, but summer is tricky with the oven. The ingredients are uncontroversial, and the flavor and texture are very good. Price is also good. Recommend. Will buy again.

The bread slices were soft. And the taste was a bit too sour for me.

bread gives me a stomach ache. this one does not.

Better than whole foods brand, but only by a little bit.
