this flashlight really is awesome! I never thought I would find so much use for a product like this, but I do find it incredibly useful. First, it feels really nice to hold, good quality. It is also very impressive as the UV light is very bright. Really excellent for looking around your room to find out which areas need cleaning! It takes 6 AA batteries, and they last for a long time in the flashlight so you won't have to keep buying them all the time. It also came very nicely packaged and the design direction they have taken is impressive, it is very nice to hold and I do definitely recommend it if you're in the market for one, awesome to see certain colours glow brightly underneath it as well

I recently took a stray cat in as a housemate, and following a little 'accident' (he hadn't yet been neutered) I started to get paranoid about the idea of him wetting around the house. I bought this to check up on him.Thankfully it proved his innocence - after the initial accident, he's been perfectly clean and only used his litter trays.B-b-but.... OH MY GOODNESS, the stuff you find when you start shining this thing about the house. 'Perfectly clean' carpets that you've laboured over suddenly don't look QUITE so clean any more. You spilled something on the kitchen tiles and thought you'd completely cleaned it? Think again! Every single tiny fleck of dust in your home becomes a dazzling beacon of accusation pointing at you!If you're a serious clean-freak, I fear this may be an instrument of torture to you and give you a nervous breakdown!This torch does a great job, but if you've not used one before (I hadn't), prepare yourself for a shock!

First time I've bought one of these and so far it appears to be brilliant at finding "wee doggy P" stains which have now all been completely washed clean. Amazed and a bit shocked too, to find remnants of what must be bed bugs even though I thought my mattress was mega clean (I'm always hoovering it) so the UV really does it's job. Only downside is I seem to be on a daily prowl looking for invisible to the eye stains and other contaminates but that will wear off. It seems to be sturdy too but time will tell. At present I'm more than satisfied with my purchase.

I didn't actually buy this for the primary use of detecting urine/insect pests etc. But it's been alarming good for that (I'll come back to that in a minute). I bought this firstly to show up UV body paints for Halloween, and for that it's brilliant when I've tested it out (UV light shouldn't be shone into the eyes as a quick disclaimer). But as I was testing it out with the uv paints, I decided to have a little shine around a few areas, out of curiousity. Oh... My.... Word! The area of wall behind the dogs bowl (that I reckon to wipe off regularly) was disgusting. The kitchen showed every last bit of hidden food splash and grime. The area where the dog had an accident was satisfyingly clean at least. And I proved that my vax carpet cleaner was working well.So then, armed and slightly alarmed by this new super-grime eye, I did a quick Google into what this thing will actually show. Head lice! How good is that?! The chitin (exoskeleton) of insects will glow under UV so that's how you can detect the old bed bugs and other nasty pests. All manner of bodily fluids and organic matter. Scary stuff but when you're trying to clean up a mess or eradicate a pest, this torch provides one hell of an advantage.Okay, the torch itself is well made and sturdy. It takes a whopping six batteries and you are reminded not to leave them in the torch. I thought this was an annoying detail to have to load and unload six batteries every time you want to use the torch but the manufacturer has provided two battery cages so you just keep the batteries in those, then load them into the torch. The box that the torch comes in is big enough that you can slot the battery cages down the side and not lose them.The torch has a big head but that doesn't mean the UV light is extra bright. There's just more UV light and I guess it means a wider beam (UV light and visible light are not the same thing, so the logic of bigger torch equals brighter light doesn't seem to apply with UV).Overall I'm pleased with this for both my own intended purpose and the manufacturers intended purpose - it's Halloween all year round when I look at the horrors that this light shows up around the house. Needless to say, I've been pretty busy scrubbing areas of my kitchen since my UV horror experience! Great stuff, this will get used whenever I'm doing a clean up job and I'll definitely be trying it out if either of my two children need a headlice check beyond the visual one I carry out.
