Roxley Games Santorini 2nd Edition, Greek Strategy Board Game, 2-4 Players

This is a luxurious game. Just beautiful to look at. One of the nicest I have seen. My friend just wanted to build with the pieces urgh. But it is a good game strategy wise. Deceptively difficult and sneaky. We tried some of the variations with the god cards and they do add a very different play. The rules are not difficult and there are not many so pretty much anyone can pick it up. I don’t know that everyone would love it. Despite the pretty appearance it is ruthlessly analytical, especially with the base rules. But I don’t take things like this too seriously and don’t mind losing so I loved it. My friend, not so much. He stuck to stacking the pretty buildings after losing a few times and we never played again, so it won’t go over with people who are totally averse to directl logic games.

we played this at a board game cafe and fell in love with it instantly. We played all kinds of versions of it now with all our friends continuously for DAYS and didn't get bored at all. Its a lot of fun especially when you start playing with God powers. its very varied with a lot of possibilities due to number of Gods with different powers and their combinations that you can choose to play. Anyone who likes chess will love it. People who don't like chess, you might also like it, as its chess like but building element gives it a lot more visually soothing and pleasing element. Very enjoyable for 2 or more players. One small complaint is, we noticed there is not enough pieces to put down if you end up in the worst case draw scenario. We had a game that was a draw, but we reached the point where we went out of all first floors. :D

...but similar in many ways, and still a good game that has surprising replayability. Nice board and piece design, especially enjoyable to have a more tactile game experience. There are many different "gods" you can play, which range considerably in terms of being simple to understand to more complex, require dice rolling (or not!), etc. For that reason you can pick who is playing who, so for younger players you can keep it much more simple if you want to. Have only played with two people, not sure how it would be with more, but the three and four person variants look interesting. Only con is that it is maybe just a bit too expensive. There are several expansions sets that are coming out (more meeples, more cards, etc). The game came with enough stuff I think I could play this base game for a long time as is. A nice change of pace!

My husband and I love this game! Sort of like chess. Lots of strategy but not as many different moves to learn. The box comes with a game board and ocean rim for the bottom, 6 worker figurines, a die, building pieces, and 32 high-quality and colorfully designed God cards, each with a special ability. (Please note: the seller images are slightly inaccurate as one shows coins. The game does not come with coins. I’m not sure if those were a part of the 1st edition or what, but they are not a part of this edition.) The rules were a bit confusing at first, but it only took a couple of games to get the hang of it. Once you do it’s simple, move and build. Each God has their own special ability which means you can play over and over again and each game will be different. I think this game is best played with 2 players, which makes it a perfect couples or parent and child game. It does come with a 3 players and 4 player mode. We played 4 player with our 12 year old and 9 year old. While it was still fun, it was challenging to strategize with your teammate without the other team hearing your plans. Absolutely worth the money and will be a game we will enjoy for a long time!

I adore this game. It's like chess but much more accessible for people intimidated by strategy games. The various god cards make for some very interesting games. I was even able to play with a 9-year-old and they thought it was very fun. Highly recommend it

I love this game and have been waiting a long time to give it as a gift to my husband for his birthday. I was slightly suspicious that the game box came taped shut with packing tape. When he opened it on his birthday, we were all very disappointed to see that the edges of the game board are worn and the plastic bags holding the game pieces are very poked-through, crinkled, and worn out. I bought it new, but this game has obviously been played with many times. I don't want to return because the price has gone up and Amazon is offering me a refund but not a replacement.
