Competition Math: for Middle School

I came across this book after searching for practice material for ukmt competitions. At junior level apart from past papers I couldn't find anything else so decided to get this book as it contains all the main aspects - Algebra, counting, probability, number theory and geometry.I purchased for my son in Yr 8 who is keen on maths but it is challenging. He said he feels it's more appropriate for year 9 but is do-able as questions gradually get harder.I would recommend only for keen students as another reviewer mentioned it's very dense and takes at least an hour on one unit/set of questions.We have just reached the end of the first chapter and my son is now used to it (he found it a bit boring at first). In fact yesterday he showed excitement at learning something 'amazing' and does agree it is helping him.As its an American book some things like currency and terms will be different, but this is minor.Overall would recommend!
