Good product buy with CONFIDENCE
I wrote a review already but I guess it wasnt long enough so the Growtrac wont honor their agreement to a gift for the amount of rolls I bought...so this is a longer review. This stuff works, keeping it watered is the trick. You must keep it moist!! Its expensive but works...I also used Pennington 1 step and it works, too. Its half the price and just as good and just as easy. Its 100 degrees outside and both with water came up fast. Pennington came up 1st and just as thick as Growtrac. I also used Rebels repair mix. Rebels is slower to start but just as good and it's even cheaper than the other 2 products i mentioned. I'll bet this review is long enough for Growtrac but i bet they wont like the content. In a nutshell Growtrac works and in my 1st review i said you can buy with CONFIDENCE...just keep it watered. Bet I still wont get my free repair kit as promised.

Doesn’t work as described
I was excited to get this product. It says roll it out, water it and watch it grow. There’s more to it than that obviously. I had to prepare the site. Removing all the old thatch, dead grass, leaves, and digging down 2 inches to loosen the soil. I did all of the above. I had rolled out the mats to decide how to lay them out around a tree and a curved flower bed. I cut out the design as best I could, and used the scraps to patch in some of the larger openings. I noticed that the mats had two different sides. A dark side and a light side. I wasn’t sure which side to lay on the ground so I tried contacting the company and I have received no reply. I thought this would be important since it said, in the video that the mat would stick to the ground once it was watered. so I wasn’t sure if there was a sticky side or not sticky side. Since there was no answer, I tried placing the lighter side down. I watered it, and it quickly became a very sticky mush and adhered to the ground. When the site was prepared, I lay down the mats and watered as instructed. I also watered it three times a day because of our Texas heat. And that was as instructed. It’s been two weeks and I have seen absolutely no growth, no sprouts, nothing. I was hoping I’d see at least a couple of sprouts by this time. A close-up shows that the seed coats are popped open from hydration but nothing coming out of them. I wonder if it had viable seeds at all. Since there are no phone numbers or replies to text messages, there is no way for me to know if I still need to wait longer to see any growth. But it seems that two weeks is long enough to see something happening. One photo shows that there are some holes but those were created by small critters who like to dig things up. After taking the photo, I went back and patched the holes up. That’s when I examined the mat and noticed that there was absolutely no growth happening. No roots no sprouts, no nothing.

It works with lots of watering!
We tried grass seed but it just wouldn't grow! As a last resort, we tried the Growtrax. We removed all weeds, loosened up the soil, wet it, then laid down the Growtrax and watered it immediately. We watered approximately every 3 hours making sure it didn't dry out. After a couple of weeks we had sprouts! It's been about 11/2 months and with consistent watering we have a nice bed of grass. It is still very tender grass and we continue to baby it. We bought another roll and laid it next to the current growth and are taking care if it the exact same way. If you keep it moist, I think you'll be in luck!

Does not stick to the ground
A relatively small area (300 SQ Ft) need reseeding. We followed the directions very carefully even spread 3 yards of top soil on the area. Removed all the weeds in the area and got down to the earth only and raked it smooth; wet the surface to a damp consistency then applied Grotrax. It was a basically calm day but as we rolled out the Grotrax we got a little breeze less than 5 MPH. We took precautions and put weight on the ends, still it came up we pretty much repaired it. I watered 3 times during the afternoon into the evening. I watered twice the next morning plus we had an early morning shower. With the watering I took great care to not over water; damp just about saturated without puddling. So I tried to repair and protect from wind which was extremely light with the first application and then the next morning. Come the afternoon on the 2nd day the pictures show how the product is. Also once wet you can not pick it up and reapply it. It crumples in your hand. Although the advertisement says it sticks to the ground, you can't prove it by me. I am frustrated beyond belief. All that work and expense I am relatively sure it went for naught. If it grows I'll update but I don't see it staying in place long enough to properly germinate. At this point I would not buy again. Update 1 week later - the rest about 80 % did stick to the ground. Grass is poking it's way through the mat. I suspect there will be a lot of spots to patch in - I would rate it a 2 1/2. Not sure if I would buy again. 3 Months since the install - grass is in and full looks great there are a couple spots where the wind blew the mat off. If it was me I would definitely offer the stakes to hold down the mat and include in your how to videos- So much effort was put into trying to get the blown off mat back in contact with the ground. If it had stakes include I would buy again.

Not a great product.
It is a pain to lay down if there is any wind at all. Also, if you are in a windy area it’s not the product you want! I ended up having to put a couple inches of soil to keep in laying down! I lost a bunch of it during a windy day even with soil weighing it down. Would maybe be a good “patch” product, but if you live in the country or anywhere windy I don’t recommend. I originally thought I might be able to steal the strips down but once the product gets wet it shreds easily and the anchors did nothing. I will update when the grass starts to grow how it is.

Water it
I like the 100 roll of Grotrax, it's wider and goes down better. If you have a small area then use the 50 roll of Grotrax. Here in my pictures I use both seed grass and Grotrax. The Grotrax started growing in 5 days, I watered my lawn 2 to 3 times a day because it was hot and clear. after the first week I did put in some areas to much water as you can see the Sheet is showing through the grass and please don't let no one Walk on it. My dog did a good job messing it up in some spots. If you can set your sprinklers to go off in the middle of the day please do so. There were some days I water my Grotrex late in the afternoon, and yes it will stop the grow process because it went a long time without water in the heat. So for those of you who are thinking about buying Grotrax It's a wonderful buy and you will not waste your money. I have a huge yard and a small budget to work with that why you see the hay on the other side of the Grotrax. both are Bermuda grass can not wait to see how this will come out. And for those who can go online to Grotrax get the 3 rolls for 99.00 if they're still available. I'm CJ and happy to put in my review about Grotrax

Warning!!
I really can’t tell you if it’s good. Bad I can. I will explain, it rolled out good and did just like it said. All was well and watered it. Granted I am in Florida so you really make sure you keep it damp or the wind will blow it away.it tells you to keep it watered. What they don’t tell you is make sure no rain in the forecast because we got a big rain one afternoon and it been down for about 5 days and the rain just washed it all away. It did not tell me that. So I had put down 400 square feet and needed to get another 200. So money washed down the drain so to speak! Good luck.

Doesn't Really Work
I recently had an inground swimming pool removed and filled in. So my property was graded and finished with topsoil very nicely. I thought this stuff might be an interesting solution for covering it. I bought one roll and used about half of it to cut several sections and place them in different locations to experiment with. Full sun, part sun, mostly sun, and mostly shade. I work from home so keeping these things watered was not a problem. I also didn't have any problems keeping them secure to the ground with only a slight tilling with a rake and watering the ground beforehand followed by the recommended light watering to keep it in place. For comparison, I also planted small sections of Bermuda grass next to each section of this stuff. A little over 3 weeks later the Bermuda grass that I planted far exceeded the growtrax. It grew faster and thicker in every area. The growtrax did produce some grass. But only two growtrax areas (partial sun/mostly shade) really did anything. And what they produced I can only compare to a bald man in the 90s with hair plugs. By no means was it full or thick or anything that resembled a section of grass. It was sporadic blades here and there coming up. The other sections I tried had very little grass. I wondered if the seeds got eaten or washed away but they were still there, ungerminated, ungrown and just lying there. The bottom line is, this stuff just doesn't work. Looking back at the marketing and videos from this company I find it utterly hysterical that they should show full, lush lawns emerging from this product. It's misleading and, in my opinion, false advertising. Just plant your seed in the age old tradition and you'll be better off. Don't buy this.

Got a product different from image.
Got my order yesterday but got the a different product with a “Canadian mixture”, not the on in the picture. After researching, the seeds combination could work well in Ontario. But please update the image of the product being sold. This is misleading. This worked beautifully! I followed manufacturer instructions to the T (replaced top soil with a good quality one and watered 3times/day the first 8 days. I got grass at 8 days. I also got some mushrooms but I just pull them out and started watering 2 times/day. This roll was not enough so I had to use grass seeds for a small section and both are ground at the same time. Both equally effective. I will warn, if you have squirrels, they will dig and rip your fabric.
