There isn't anything that this Snow Claw XT boot from Irish Setter can't handle. This Ultra-Dry waterproof boot has a 2,000 gram Thinsulate Ultra insulation and an EVA plus Thermal Boost Nanotechnology midsole for anti-odor protection. The Snow claw XT outsole has an aggressive rubber tread for exceptional grip. Hunting isn't their hobby. It's their calling. It's all they were made to do. In sixty years, they've never lost focus. They've never followed anything but their instincts. They've never let up. They still live for the chase, pursuing innovation from dusk

Reviews about sizing were wrong for me (and other thoughts about this boot)
There's a lot of reviews here that say "order these large" - so I did - I have a 10.5 and I ordered these in an 11.5... and I could darn near walk out of them! They absolutely did not run small. (so I returned them - Amazon is the best!)Anyhow - here's some other thoughts - these boots, while they have 2000g of insulation in them are likely NOT as warm as boots with 1200 or 1400 - IF your feet get cold. What I mean is - these boots distribute the insulation from the tip of the toe, though out the foot, past the ankle and all the way up the calf. "The whole boot" is insulated where as many of those other boots with the bulbous foot and then just rubber upper place all the insulation in just the foot up to the ankle. For me - that matters - all my hunting and cold weather gear covers my leg clear down to the ankle and the part of me that I fight to keep warm is the foot (toes). So - despite the fit issue, these would have been sent back anyhow. I'll pick up another pair of Irish Setter's here on Amazon - but stick with the more traditional rubber boot - all the insulation in the foot. And a closing thought - while I liked the idea of the zipper on the side - in practice the 5 or 6 times I used it while trying them on every single time it caught on the material under it in the boot and was frustrating... imagining some mud and ice in the equation and I'm not sure it's such a great idea.

Initial inspection good.
I haven't worn these in the cold, yet, so I can't comment on their performance, However, I thought it'd be useful for you to know that you'll probably want to order a larger size than normal. I typically wear a 13D. I ordered these in a 13EE and they fit perfect. I don't anticipate having to wear three pairs of wool socks with these boots since there is 2000 grams of Thinsulate, but if I did, 13EE would be too narrow. One good pair of wool socks, these fit great! I can't wait to get out in the freezing temps! Amazon, of course, destroyed everyone else in price. I wasn't targeting these specific boots, but when I saw the price, it was a no-brainer to buy them here. On a side note, be sure you know how high these boots are going to sit on your legs. These come up pretty high. Great for warmth, but may not be what you're expecting if you're used to lower rising boots.

well-made & sturdy, but rather clunky, and fits narrow
I often have trouble finding shoes and boots that fit me well, because I have very wide feet. (Usually wear a 9-2E, sometimes 9-4E depending on shoe construction.)Although I'd prefer a simpler style, I had high hopes for these boots based on reviews of this boot and others of this brand. However, I found them to be rather heavier and clunkier than I'd expected. However, beggars can't be choosers, so I tried them on, hoping they'd be perfect for the next 12in snowfall. Problem: they're way too narrow. I mean not just a little: even without socks my feet were being squished, as if these were D width rather than 2E. The length was fine. So, if you have wide feet, you might want to look elsewhere.

Warmest boots I've ever worn.
I live in the city with the highest snow fall in the nation (as of today). It takes me about 2 hours to clear our driveway, parking area, etc with an open farm tractor, no cab. Ski gloves with hand warmers, face mask, googles, down hood, insulated snow suit all keep me warm, but my toes have been cold for twenty-four years, in spite of insulated boots. Finally, this year I splurged on the Irish Setter Snow Claw. Finally, my toes stay warm! As one reviewer noted, they are clunky; I have to position my foot carefully over the clutch to be sure it doesn't get caught. But, with the thick insulation, that it the way it has to be. The stretch in the front over the instep gives just enough to make walking easy. The aggressive tread prevents slipping. Side zippers work fine and make getting the boots on and off relatively easy, although I do recommend a boot jack. (If you don't know what that is, look it up and get or make one.) In summary, I am delighted. Perfect for my purpose.

Very warm but watch the width
Initial impression of the boots was that they are visually apealling and impresively well made. I normally wear a size 11 but, since the purpose of these boots is for hunting from a tree stand and since I will be wearing heavy wool socks for warmth I ordered mine in an 11.5 EE "wide." The length of the boot is as listed however the width of the boot, around the middle of my foot, is a bit restrictive. This is the case even with normal weight socks. I have yet to really put the boots to work so I cannot comment on their water resistance but, by the looks of them I have no doubts in their performance. They are very warm and have tread like a mud tire! If they loosen up after a little breaking then they should make very good boots for a very long time.

Amazing boots!
I love these boots. Wore them ice-fishing, and it was 0-15 deg F. I only had a pair of wool socks, and I was never uncomfortable. This was a great surprise since I usually get very cold in the toes. They are very fitting in the calves, but I have big calves so that wasn't surprising. The insulation around the calves is actually warm enough that I simply wore shorter socks and they felt great. They are clunky - which I think is expected in a cold weather boot - but I did not find them inordinately heavy, and I am female. I had them on literally for 18 hours a clip and I never felt the urge to take them off. I highly recommend these to anyone.

Great investment, my feet are never cold when I wear them. Worth every dollar.
Once you purchase a pair of these, you will never have to worry about your feet ever being cold again. They may be pricey, but they are worth every dollar. I had frost bite years ago when I was in the military and 3 relapses since then, but when I put these boots on,I can't even tell that I'm standing in snow, or standing on ice.

Excellent boots in extreme cold
These boots manage to keep my feet warm in Northern Minnesota. I am a rancher who's outside most of the time and hadn't found boots that could keep my feet warm until my wife found these ones by Irish Setter. They are a little bulky, but it's worth the warmth they give. Excellent boots.
