OTTERBOX DEFENDER SERIES Case & Holster for Apple iPhone 4/4S Retail Packaging - Black

This is the second OtterBox Defender Series case I have purchased for my iPhone 4S. This second purchase was simply an impulse buy due to the unbeatable price at Amazon.com. Plus, it doesn't hurt to have a new color, right? (Though, it would be nice if OtterBox sold an assortment of silicone covers in a variety of styles and colors separately). My first OtterBox case has without a doubt protected my phone from the minor bumps from inside my purse to the occasional drops, and on one terrifying occasion, a fall down a flight of stairs that would have certainly ended in death without the protective OtterBox case! If one is willing to invest in an iPhone, they should also invest in a case that will protect it. In my experience, the OtterBox Defender Series case protected my phone in that situation I thought would never happen. In my opinion, it is well designed and does the job well. I am not saying the phone is indestructible inside this case, but its chances of survival in an "accident" are much higher.The case is actually two cases in one. The inner case is a hard shell (in two pieces) that has a built-in screen protector. The hard shell clips together and then slips into the silicone case, which acts as a shock absorber for minor bumps and higher impact drops and falls. These two cases together make the phone feel a bit bulky, but at the same time, this bulkiness makes the phone feel like it's sturdy and well protected. In addition, the case comes with a holster that doubles as a kickstand to prop the phone up for viewing videos. I use the holster for jogging and biking. I like the clip design because it has type of hook so grips the waistband on your pants when you move around.In addition to a fantastic case, consumers also get great customer service. My first case did its job well; however, the silicone cover did not retain its elasticity for very long. In fact, it only lasted 6 months before the center button completely came away from the case. This made the center button hard to use, but also allowed dirt and debris to enter the inner case. I simply filled out a form online describing the problem, and within an hour, I had a case number. The representative at OtterBox wanted a picture of the damaged case, which I sent, and by the end of the business day, they sent a new case!! Incredible!! Good companies that stand behind their product, in my experience, are hard to find. I am impressed!!! I will always buy my cases from OtterBox! Thank you OtterBox for taking care of your customers. And thank you Amazon for selling their products.

The Otterbox Defender case has to be one of the best cell phone cases on the market. I have purchased over 20 of these cases, mostly for iPhones over the past three years. You see, I have 10 phones on my account (2 Family plans) and at one time, nine were iPhones. Over 3 years, I went through several upgrades from 3GS to 4 or 4S. Two of my phones are now Android phones including the Galaxy S3 which is also protected by Otterbox.To begin with, the Defender case is well designed with a hard plastic case inside a shock absorbing silicon cover. The hard inner case includes a permanent screen protector that is thicker and more protective than the typical peel and stick variety. All ports and buttons on the phone are accessible through the case via pop-open covers, penetrations or button extensions on the outer case. The case also comes with a beltclip if you don't want to put it in your pocket.Many cases make it difficult to charge your phone while the case is on. The Otterbox Defender provides a port opening with silicon pop-open cover to charge your iPhone or Galaxy S3 with the factory charger. Some after market iPhone chargers won't plug in to your phone with this case installed because the dimensions are not per factory specs.I have personnally dropped my phones hundreds, if not thousands, of times and I have had only two phones get damaged while protected by an Otterbox Defender. The first was when my son dropped his iPhone 3GS on the sidewalk and it landed screen down on a pebble that was just a little taller than the recess from the case edge to the screen. I don't know of any case that would have protected against that fluke. The second phone went for a swim in the toilet. When you see the case construction you may be tempted to believe it is water proof... IT IS NOT! Nor does Otterbox make any claims that it is.Recently while climbing into my wife's SUV, my Samsung Galaxy S3 came flying off of my belt as I climbed in. It bounced off of the driveway a few times but sustained no damage. When I retrived it and the beltclip, I found that the clip had actually broken and that was why the phone had fallen. I called Otterbox warranty service and described the event. I did not have to fight them at all, they replaced the clip under warranty at no cost to me.Lastly, my youngest son is quadriplegic with limited arm movement and no finger or wrist control. The Otterbox case actually makes his phone more accessible to him since the silicon cover provides a grippable surface that keeps his phone from sliding off of his lap and makes it easier for him to hold between his hands when raising the phone to his ear.To sum up, I am sold on Otterbox Defender, not just because of the quality of the product but because of the exceptional customer service.

Funzionale e Resistente ... ho comprato prima la protezione e poi il telefono!!!I Limiti:Le gomme si deteriorano dopo 24 mesi ed iniziano a cedere le parti mobili di protezione!La pellicola display non è "balistica" e non protegge dagli urti diretti sul display (sempre che non sia alloggiato nel case adizionale) ... Di buono è che la pellicola è fissata alla scocca protettiva e limita l'accesso alle polveri!Il case di supporto è robusto ma troppo ingombrante!Il case non è impermeabile (ma non vogliamo la luna)!La protezione aumenta l'ingombro ed il trasporto in tasca può diventare scomodo!Ciò nonostante ... non potrei farne a meno! Mi ha salvato il telefono da mille cadute, tanto da trattarlo come un attrezzo da lavoro!Accessibilità ai tasti facile (sostanzialmente invariata)!

Great case, had the exact same one for 3 years and finally had to get a new one. I dropped my phone many a time and never had an issue, defender series is the best.

I recently dropped my 3gs I phone and shattered the screen, I've never broken a phone before! I replaced it with a 4s and I decided to get an Otterbox no matter what! Normally I never cared for the look of an Otterbox but I told myself it doesn't matter because I can't take a chance that I break my new phone with a simple drop. This box is not ugly, I really like it and I like the color. The color is a deep plum shade (not a bright purple shade). Within the first week I fell asleep in bed with my phone, my husband came to bed later and I woke up and panicked because it flashed in my mind that my phone was in bed with me (I was very protective of my phone in the beginning)!! I was half asleep and started flailing around with my hands to find it. Find it I did, I knocked it off my bed and it flew off my bed and I heard a metallic sounding slam! I laid there paralyzed. I just knew my phone was a goner!! I felt sick, real sick! I turned on my bedside lamp and looked over at my treadmill and there lie my precious shiny new phone with the sweet voice of Siri, and she wasn't talking! I slowly got up out of my bed and went over and slowly picked up my phone. I just knew I was going to cry that night but something nice happened instead! My phone was still beautiful and new, without a scratch on it!! I was so happy! Honestly, i'm not obsessed with my phone but I am sort of a cheap skate and did not purchase any insurance for my phone. I did not want it shattered! It is a nice bit of protection and works well for me. If you're real rough with your phone you might need an Otterbox and insurance! Of course there are no guarantees but it saved my phone from a hard knock on the edge of my treadmill! To make a long story a little shorter I am still enjoying my phone and my conversations with Siri!! And I'm not nearly as obsessive as I used to be!!

Otterbox Defender for the iPhone 4sI bought this for the Iphone 4s, when I updated from the 3GI am a gas engineer to trade, so I get into all sorts of environments and some tricky spaces.I like to have it on a belt for my ease and security, rather than loose in the pocket.. so easily damaged or lost that way.I had the "otterbox defender" for the iPhone 3G, and have kept with the defender ever since. I have tried other "rugged" cases, but always found the belt clip a bit delicate for my liking.The defender is built from an inner 2 piece shell of plastic(front and back), which has a thin felt pad inside the back piece to protect the rear of the phone from scratches. The outer protection is a silicon rubber sleeve, which fits perfectly to the case when assembled and is held in place by the design and a couple of holes which fit over 2 lugs on the inner case. It has built in covers to protect the mute switch, the headphone port, and does cover the docking/charging port fully, it also has clear plastic over the rear camers and a dustproof "cloth type" material over the ear speaker.There is a clear plastic cover on the back to show off the Apple logo.It has a built in screen protector, that I find does stick to the screen and cause "watermarks". The screen protector is quality material, and does not detract from the interaction using the touch screen.Though it is not fully waterproofed , it does a good job of looking after your expensive phone. I have dropped it numerous times, and its fine.I can say that in my experience the phone stays in perfect condition, even after a year or more. No scratches anywhere on the phone and it still looks brand new.The belt holder is a robust plastic, with 2 "cups" at the side for the phone to slip into, and a clip to secure the other side. It is held very securely, but easy to remove with one hand. There is a 360 rotatable belt clip on the rear with a strong spring, and a catch to hold the clip open if you wish to use the holster for viewing a video etc in landscape mode. (I personally epoxied the clip in the upright position, as I like a fixed non rotating holster).Would I recommend to friends and family... yesWould I buy again ... yes. Always the Otterbox defender...
