I couldn't be more pleased with this item. It was so easy to install with only 2 wires to connect at the back up lamps. Included were 2 quick wire snaps that required no wire cutting or soldering. The monitor is just plug it in and it works. The transmitter is powered by the back up lamps. There is plenty of wiring included so that you can reach almost any location for mounting. The camera works well in the dark with the back up lamp illuminated I can see pretty well. I like it and feel safe now that I can actually see what is going on behind my truck while backing.

Upon opening it and checking it out my husband noticed the wires were too short and we'd need an adapter or something in order to properly set this up on his Ram 1500 pickup truck.I reached out to Will, the seller, and asked if there was anyway to buy a wire to remedy the issue of the wire being too short. He replied and quickly had the wire we needed shipped to us free of charge, he gets kudos for that.After we received the wire (it ships from China) my husband finally had the time to work on installing this. He works nights so he was doing it via flashlight in the dark, so it took longer than one might possibly expect.He went to splice it into the pigtail and discovered someone cut those wires (we bought the truck used)...surprise!So he then ran wires directly to the battery since tracing wires in the dark would take far too long to do.This was fine except lots of fuzz/reception issues...so when we went to the store he bought a new pigtail wire and the next morning he wired it differently with a splice so that when his lights are on, the camera's on (the way he wanted it).The camera is now much clearer without reception issues.First picture is where the camera is, 2nd picture is how it looks at night (it was when it was hooked to the battery so I caught it before it fuzzed), then in daylight (after it was spliced into the wiring).I gave 4*'s because the description does mention pickup trucks, but doesn't come with the extension wire to be able to properly get it set up and takes an additional amount of time to receive the wire putting you close to the end of the 30 day return period if you're unsatisfied with the camera.Fortunately we are satisfied with it so far.

Quick install and delivery but it glitches out and looses connection often for it being wireless

This camera is awesome, I installed it on my 2011 beamer. The Camera provides a crystal clear view, and the guide lines help me judge distance. I set up a object two feet away from car and was able to figure out which guide line was approximately two feet. This helps me especially at night. Great price and very well constructed camera. Installed it without any difficulties. Highly recommend. By the way the wiring to the back light is very straightforward and was very easy to hook up. The monitor mount took seconds.

Update to the original Excellent review now changing to Poor. Worked fine for 6 months, then died. All connections checked and verified correct, no intermittent connections or loss of power. Just worked well and suddenly died, no flicker, dimming, or other signs of problem, just suddenly died. Brake lights still work and connection is good and power connection and ground good. Guess just poor quality. Will not buy again.Camera is easy to install as directions indicated, however I installed it as a high mount on the back of a raised roof Ford E350 van. Easy to install with double backed tape and wire run to back up light circuit. Display mounted on dash works fine, is clear and bright. Once a little mental calibration of where the back of the van actually it with respect to the stop line on the display it is an excellent low cost backup camera. Would buy again.

I purchased this camera a couple of weeks ago and installed it last week. My car has the license plate mounted on the trunk lid so I was able to mount all of the components on the inside of the trunk lid under the liner so everything is invisible and out of the way. I stuck the camera to the trunk lid behind the license plate using the double-sided tape that comes on the camera; I didn't use the license plate mounting screw because I wanted the camera to be in the center of the plate.The one problem that I was struggling with was where to put the monitor. I didn't want to mount it on the windshield or the dash because it would partially obstruct my view. Then, in another comment posted here a user stated that the ball on the camera's mount was the same size as the ball on the bracket on his Garman GPS. I decided to buy a Garmin mount that installs in one of the outlets for the air conditioning. I also purchased some clear plastic self-adhesive wire clips from eBay to use to route the wires and keep them out of the way. Now I can mount both the backup monitor and the Garmin next to each other and they are easy to see and do not obstruct my forward view.One other thing that I should mention is that the NORMAL/MIRROR switch that lets you flip the image on the monitor only functions when the camera is powered off. That is, if the camera is displaying video on the monitor and you change the position of the switch, you will not see the display flip to the opposite view. You need to power off the camera by taking the transmission out of Reverse and then change the position of the switch. Then you will see the video reversed when you put the transmission back into Reverse again. I'm not sure why it works this way, but it's something to keep in mind. If you are looking for a backup camera, I would recommend this unit and the Garmin mount to go with it.
