Needs a little fluffing
The tree comes flat as a pancake in a plastic wrapper, but with a little fluffing, it looks like a tinsel tree. The light is a wind up thing. I turned it on and it lit up but then I forgot that it has to be turned like a music box to make it rotate, and I stared at it for a few minutes before figuring it out. Duh. So it doesn't turn on it's own, but frankly, there's no space for a motor in something this small, so it works. Cute! It made a really nice stocking stuffer and it looks SO MidCenturyModern.

Old Fashioned Memories
I sent it to a friend who is quite fond of tinsel trees with those lights. I told him to expect a package but I didn't tell him what was in it. Unfortunately, he didn't bother to read my messages so when he got the package today he didn't know who sent it and had been racking his brains to figure out where it had come from. I called to make sure he got it and he was absolutely thrilled with it. Would make a great stocking stuffer or pre Christmas gift for anyone who loves the old fashioned tinsel tree and light feature

Absolutely adorable!!
If you are considering buying this, don't hesitate for a second. I was cautious because of the negative reviews, but mine arrived in perfect condition and the color wheel works perfectly too. I did not use the red garland, but instead used tiny self adhesive colored gems. Now It looks like my vintage aluminum tree had a teeny tiny baby. Also the book is a fun read; the author has a great sense of humor.
