is this good for a 9 year old boy?

Yes! I have a 3 year old girl... it's not the best idea for her because she forgets to put it back in the tin when she's not using it. But my 6, and 11 year old boys LOVE it! Keeps them busy for quite a while. They both have ADHD and it's great for calming and to keep their hands busy so they don't feel like they have to keep moving so much. :-)

Arrived on time. It was sort of melting because of the heat. I was expecting a bigger quantity, given the price. My son played with it for a couple of days, and was not interested anymore. I don't think that this is worth the money.
