Ladri Paperback

I approached this book in 3 ways: As a reader; as a novelist; as a Christian. Here's my take.As a reader it held my attention all the way through. I marveled at the complex characters and enjoyed the tense action.As a novelist I am in awe of Albright's amazing creativity in creating this world that includes ideas, names, and descriptions that boggle the mind.As a Christian I had a few problems. [I can't get into specifics because I don't want to put a spoiler in this review.] My Christian faith made it difficult for me to suspend my disbelief and get into some of the characters, who to me should be entirely evil or entirely good and not as depicted in the book. BUT I once had a review of one of my novels in which the reviewer panned the book because it was a novel and not non-fiction. I don't want to do this to LADRI or to Andrea D. Albright! Albright writes LADRI without apology as dark urban fantasy, and it is. She's done an incredible job.

We just finished reading Ladri. Andrea does any amazing job of describing everything, you feel as though you could walk the streets of Grand Rapids and go right to the gates of The Gallery. The characters are deep, layered, and flawed, both heroes and monsters. Simple Black and White, two-dimensional characters are not part of this story, Everything has meaning and sometimes it feels like the surface of it is only touched. Keep writing, The Gallery has much more to share!

I highly recommend this book. Its characters are intense and captivating. The author did a great job of interweaving the storyline in and out of ALL of their lives. It’s one of those books that are a fast read and a page-turner. The tension continues to build throughout the story. If you’re like me, you’ll become attached to the characters and be looking forward to the next book.

This was a great read. It is a great fantasy story and very unique. I sincerely hope that the author continues the story.

Andrea Albright has always had a wonderful gift for storytelling. From the clear and beautiful scenes that are painted with her words to the character development that makes the reader long for more to come, Ladri does not disappoint. It ends on a cliffhanger that leaves the reader aching for the next installment. Can’t wait to see where things go from here!
