The best basic OBD2 Scanner
When it comes to non-intrusive OBD-II scanners, this one stands out as the best option. It not only provides diagnostic codes but also offers detailed explanations, making it incredibly user-friendly. You can easily clear codes as well. I’ve used more advanced scanners that come with additional reset and programming functions, which can be confusing for someone who isn’t mechanically inclined and may even cause damage to the vehicle. For this reason, I believe this device is the better choice for those without mechanical expertise. It excels in both quality and performance. The associated app works seamlessly, featuring a clear and straightforward design that effectively gets the job done.

Great Basic Scan Tool - Amazing Product Support
This is a good little scan tool. It's very basic, but does more than cheaper units. Innova is a name brand and they are reliable. They've been making scan tools forever and have many options. This will NOT do bi-directional controls or testing - if that's what you're looking for consider their other options. This does include a very basic battery and alternator test built into the tool, might help you in a pinch. This is powered by the cars DLC (Data Link Connector/OBD2 port) no batteries and no recharging - great to keep in the car all the time. Innova's description says no OEM data but it does infact have an OEM mode for some vehicles. This will read more than basic readers. It's also graphing capable, not a high refresh rate and no adjustable scale but still useful. The controls are intuitive and simple, so this is perfect for the DIY crowd. The tool is also updatable to stay current with the newest vehicles. The connector is removable and replaceable should it be damaged. I will say this is much smaller than it appears so don't be surprised when you recieve it. The case is fairly rugged and I'd expect it to survive some bumps and drops. The screen is bright and legible... Unfortunately mine has a small defect in it but Innova's customer support is amazing. They responded in less than an hour when I reached out to them and continuously updated me as they worked to figure out a solution - that's rare in this day and to me that speaks volumes about a company and their products! I do not think you will be disappointed with this tool or the brand. For the price you get a great tool and some truly legendary support!

minimal advanced features, especially at this price point.
At this price point, I was expecting a bit more. This looked like it might have been closer in feature sets to some of the android powered units.Pros: Decent screen size. Auto detects my vehicle about 80% of the time. Gives you standard OBD2 scanner features and a few advanced features depending on vehicle. It can read the separate modules on my Ford, but has limited additional options for those modules. Has BT connection to your phone if you wish to install the phone application.Cons: At this price, I would have expected advance features at this price point. For a few dollars more, you can get into the less expensive Alltel models that give you additional programming features.Overall: This is a good scanner, it is nicer than the 20 dollar price point ones, but does not have the capabilities that the 250+ dollar models have.

Scan your 1996 and up gasoline powered truck or car to find the OBD2 code(s)
You go to a shop if you have a check engine light on your dash and they might charge you a lot of money to scan your vehicles computer to tell you what’s wrong with your vehicle. Save time andmoney by having your own OBD2 scanner. If you have zero experience using one, my recommendation is You can search online and/or also watch tutorials and get an explanation about how a OBD2 scanner works and diagnosing your vehicle to do your own repair or just wanting to know for your own reference, what the code is and what it means. This OBD2 scanner went into detail to tell me the code and a brief explanation of the code. It’s also possible if you have a check engine light in your dash, to have more than one code found, which I actually had more than one code on another vehicle. This OBD2 scanner can be used over and over again.

Good scanner.
If you have never used one before, I suggest you look it up online and/or watch videos to learn how an OBD2 scanner operates and how to diagnose your car so you can fix it yourself or simply want to know what the code is and what it signifies for your own reference. This OBD2 scanner provided me with the code and a concise description of it. Additionally, if you have a check engine light on your dash, it is likely that many codes will be found. In fact, I found multiple codes on another car. It is evident from the robust non-slip housing that this is a tool made to withstand years of dependable use. It is a priceless addition to any toolset, providing accurate and effortless professional-grade diagnostics.

An Industry Standard For a Reason
Hard to go wrong with Innova. A big plus for me is that I already use Repair Solutions 2 from having other tools by this brand. So the new diagnostic tablet fits right in to my rotation. The form factor itself is a plus, because this device is on the smaller side and fits well in an already-crowded tool bag. I was thinking it's a glaring oversight that Innova didn't include any sort of carry case or storage pouch with the unit, but fortunately I have something I can use.As far as capability this is a great option since it can access a lot of "dealer level" systems that many OBD scanners of this size usually can't. It was even able to access some stored codes on a 2014 RAV4 that didn't set a MIL and which weren't picked up by competitive code readers. You also have functions such as battery reset, oil light reset, battery registration, and TPMS relearn, alongside most of the expected features such as live data, inspection readiness and charging system testing. Using Bluetooth you can have the RS2 app generate reports that can be printed out or saved as PDF, as well as keeping a history of vehicles you've worked on.This diagnostic device packs a powerful suite of tools into a very portable form factor that makes this code reader an excellent choice for mobile diagnostics.
