Adorable primitive stitching
This author is one of my all time favorites and this book really is just for me! There is a whimsical idea about 3 young ladies and projects to make following their studying days. This makes for a new approach and as I like to look back at old bits and pieces from lives gone by and old photographs it is a book I paw over. But it's not over the top or contrived, just a concept which serves as a springboard into some very lovely folksy styled projects. Everything is adaptable, again in muted earthy tones, the projects use a range of sewing skills which you could have a go at with a minimal prior knowledge, but I think something for everyone - if you like the primitive folk style. You can learn how to age your fabric and make useful little gifts for fellow sewers or make them and keep them all to yourself, I myself just enjoyed the indulgence of making bits and bobs for their own sake and trying something new. I have made the rag doll from the front, pictures and instructions were easy and scope for your own ideas. Diagrams are drawn by hand, clear and un-intimidating. Photographs are lovely, all of it has such a strong historical tone but the items would look good in an ordinary home. This book, I shall certainly keep, in fact it's time I went and had another look through it!

Lots of enjoyable projects
I love Maggie’s work, I’m not 100% prim in my decorating my style is rustic vintage and her projects and style incorporate a down to earth feeling to them. Not stuffy, but a gently lived in feeling.

Love her work!
I think I own all of Maggie's books. And I go back to them time and again, sometimes for project ideas and sometimes just to enjoy over a cup of coffee. They are beautifully put together! I've made several of her projects now and if I had any complaint it would be that, if you're obsessive about doing something exactly like the instructions, you may be discomforted! LOL! Maggie doesn't expect your work to be "perfect" because it is supposed to look/be primitive! So just go for it! Her patterns are just great. From this book I am especially looking forward to making the doll. I highly recommend any/all of her books.

It's no surprise that I love this book
It's no surprise that I love this book; I am a fan of everything Maggie. Certainly it is for those of us who love history and the old-fashioned, and enjoy re-creating things as they used to be. Having said that, this book is fresh and fun , and I am busy making projects from it. It certainly makes me happy !

Another Great Book
I am a huge Primitive Gatherings supporter. I have all their books and this one is just as great. There are small projects in this book rather than quilts although there is one star quilt pattern. It has dolls, wool patterns, fireplace screen and many other patterns. If you like primitives, you will love this book.

Classy Folk Art
Maggie has done it again! She has created a lovely book that is not too primitive, but that is just perfect in simplicity and, yet, remains classy. The wools she uses are amazing and she leaves suggestions for you to locate these good fibers. It is fun to see how she displays these items in the home.
