6 Inch Original Oil Lamp

There's nothing like soft candlelight to set the mood and give a room a romantic atmosphere. We bought four of these candles and use them all the time. They're classy and elegant. Easy to fill and no smoke from the flame. Regular candles burn unevenly if there's any kind of a breeze, even circulating air from a vent or fan; that's not an issue with this type of candle. The glass surrounds the flame, protecting it, which also makes them great for outdoor use. The only caveat is that they ARE glass and you have to handle them carefully, but we love them and highly recommend them. If they weren't so expensive, I'd buy more.

Be sure to go the extra mile on the oil, if you do, there is no smell, no smoke, and the glass stays clean!

We have had these lamps for many years and love them. We use them almost daily. I have noticed that some people have been looking for replacement wick holders. They are actually available from the manufacturer, just go to Wolfart.com.

It is fine, but seems a bit thicker than my older ones. Wish there were more sizes. I thought the selection was larger

This lamp was to replace an identical unit purchased more than two decades ago. One of the reasons I admired the lamp was the technique used to produce it. I gained experience in glass-working as a research chemist, and I also have had access to the services of a professional scientific glass-worker. So I know what good glass-working is. I regret to write that this replacement unit is a poor replica of our original lamp. The reservoir bowl, instead of being of a uniform wall thickness, has a puddle of glass at the bottom about 6 mm thick. (Wolford has disputed my description of the reservoir bowl.) The support/filler tube is attached to the chimney with a weld that looks like an open wound. The entire piece seems clumsy and certainly doesn't seem to match the quality of the items presently shown in Wolfard's brochure or on-line advertising.The seller has quickly and graciously accepted my request for a refund. They cannot be expected to examine every Wolfard product they receive. Nevertheless I recommend that whenever possible potential purchasers find a local retailer and pick an acceptable copy of the lamp.

My husband has enjoyed the Wolfard lamps for many years, so when it was broken recently, he had to have a replacement. Fortunately, these are sold on Amazon. We were able to replace the broken one and add an additional 9 ince size. The packaging was excellent and extra wicks were included with the lamp.
