Buy The Scofield Study Bible III: King James Version 3 by Editor (ISBN: 9780195278521) from desertcart's Book Store. Everyday low prices and free delivery on eligible orders. Review: Surpassed all expectations! - This bible is lovely and big. The cover looks and feels great, plus it keeps the pages flat. There is gold trimming on the edges of the pages and a long yellow ribbon attached to the bible to use as a bookmark. My primary concerns when buying this bible blindly were the quality of the references, how easy the bible would be to understand in the KJV (which can be a challenge normally, when you consider non-study bibles) and the size (I didn't want a Bible that was pocket sized with tiny font and this sure isn't!). The references are very relevant and they help you to understand the circular nature of the Bible. It refers back to itself (both in locations before and after where you are reading), so understanding is built up quickly if you read the references. The version itself is pretty easy to follow because unfamiliar/old words are explained in the sidelines. Also when something happens, e.g. when a prophecy is fulfilled, there are references to take you back to the prophecy. So luckily, you don't have to depend on your memory with this Bible. I am thrilled with this Bible. I don't see myself needing another after this purchase. The words of the Son are in red, and each book has an introduction with theme headings and the main events to be discussed. It helps to know what you are going to read before you delve into a new book. Complete with maps, research, historical and scientific evidence to back up scripture, as well as what critics say about some passages, I find myself not depending on much else to aid my understanding. I never have to Google things and dig for research because it is all here. I cannot fault this Bible. I don't see what the more expensive versions could have that this doesn't. Review: God's Word is God's Word; simply brilliant. - God's Word is God's Word. Reading it should NEVER be done the same way bas reading other books, newspapers or anything else. But by first asking Him to "Open my eyes that I may see wonderful things in your law." Psalm 119v18. Then it becomes alive. As He does The Bible is seen for what it is; HIS WORD. Quite simply brilliant and without Him opening it to us, nothing other than similar to an old Shakespeare book. Lots of writing but not alive.

Improved Design
This is a new design for the Scofield study Bible and I believe it to be an improvement. Good quality binding in Genuine Leather and what I Believe to be the Best translation in the English language. Good value for money well worth the investment.

Thoughts
Overall meet my expectations, the study notes, map references and some of the illistrations were a great help when covering the text. Great study tool, shame they don't do a pocket sized version.

A great Bible full of meaningful study topics
The Bible as expected is well laid out and easy to read and easy to follow themes etc. The only disappointment was the large print label I expected something just a tad larger and I was unable to find an open page on Amazon to compare it.

Good bible, nice presentation
Brought this as a gift for someone, look at other bible and choose this. I think it is excellcent so far and you can't go wrong with, good explanations, like that it has a zip, keep it protected. Might get one for myself.

I've grown to love the updated Scofield Bible in the NKJV. I already own a hardback version, but since it's very bulky and I've started to highlight in it, I got this additional Bible which is more portable and durable. Note that it's bonded leather, but it's stitched and quite well-made. I only gave it four stars at first, because the print is a bit small for my eyes, but if your eyes are youthful, you'll probably give it five stars. So it's five stars again. This is a good price for a nice Bible, and would make an excellent gift for anyone who holds to dispensational theology. The fact that it's a New King James Bible is another plus, and the updates to the original Scofield have been very helpful.

This is the translation of my first Bible that was given to me, 30 years ago. This Bible is well made and the words are just the right size. I just received it today and I am so glad that I chose to buy this Bible. I highly recommend it.

1. Physical Description A. I have had several study Bibles over the years and one thing I have always had a problem with is studying the Scriptures instead of the commentary. It is very easy to get lost in the commentary as there can be more on a given page than there is Scripture. The Scofield Study Bible is a nice balance of Scripture content to commentary and is easy to read without getting side tracked. While I do enjoy my Nelson Study Bible, I tend to pick up the Scofield more often than not since receiving it. B. The readability of the text is great, it is a large enough font without being giant and the spacing is very easy on the eyes. The non-study Bible I was primarily using before this was very strenuous on my eyes and I had a hard time reading for very long before my eyes felt like they were ready to cross! I find myself reading chapter after chapter in the Scofield due to how easy to read it is in this regard. C. The construction of this Bible is incredible for and would be a bargain at twice the price. The leather is thick and nicely textured, the binding is superb. When you handle this Bible there is a very real felt quality that you know you are holding something well made. It is not overly large as to be too bulky to take with you to church, but I find it just right. It has to be of some size to account for the nice size font, spacing and limited study notes, but again is very manageable and is a bit smaller than the Nelson Study Bible. I could take or leave the thumb index, there is usually an extra price in other additions to get this feature so to have all the "bells and whistles" so to speak is kind of nice. 2. Theology A. Literal Interpretation is a must, and if that puts me in the category that somebody labels in a particular way then so be it. It will be debated until the day the Lord returns (and He will return!) as to who is right and wrong, but I think Scofield was on the right track in sticking to the Word and not trying to twist it into whatever met the current events of the day and base how the Word of God was to be interpreted based on our limited knowledge. When we realize as humans we don't have it all figured out, only our Creator does, we can let Scripture speak to us rather than coming to Scripture expecting it to tell us what we want to hear in hopes of it matching what we can physically see. 3. Conclusion A. If you are looking for a study Bible that clearly presents Scripture in a well known literal translation that is not overwhelmed with volumes of commentary (not that it is always a bad thing) but has the right references and commentaries to help clear up some tough concepts, then this is the Bible you are looking for. I recommend it very highly!
