Hideaway Ironing Board Premium Maple with Shaker Door

I purchased an ironing center from Hide-away years ago and was pleasantly surprised to see they are still in business. My last unit lasted over a decade and i will never be able to go back to ironing with a clumsy fold out board again. They even seem to have made some notable improvements to the quality of the wooden door, hinges, and accompanying components since my last purchase. Moreover, I received prompt answers to all my questions and even got to spoke to a real person when i contacted the seller. It seems that the original company is in good hands and cares about each customer. I highly recommend you purchase one yourself if you are on the fence!

While I haven’t installed this in my new house yet, I know it’s relatively easy because it identical to one I have in my current house. The one I got is unfinished maple and the quality and smoothness of the door are excellent. My only gripe is the old school surface mount exposed hinges. The hardest part of installing it is being sure that 1) you do indeed have a full standard width stud bay. That’s not always the case. Use a stud finder and also poke some small test holes to find the edges of the studs before starting the big hole. And 2) be sure there are no wires or pipes running either vertically or horizontally through the area you intend to use. Don’t take that lightly. In my new home’s laundry room there was literally only one space available and it’s right beside the door into the laundry so when in use, it’s right inside the doorway. Not a dealbreaker for us but it could befor others. The one in my last house that I mentioned worked great for 40 years. More than happy with the product.

I sold my home and downsized. Among the many things I missed was my built-in, hideaway ironing board. When I found this one on Amazon I thoroughly researched it and it seemed to be well built.Well, that is an understatement. It is even better than my previous ironing board. It is indeed well built but also has an extra feature, a shelf to store the iron, starch, and spray water bottle. My other one had a small board for sleeves and other narrow garment pieces so that was part of my wish list. This one has that feature as well.The wood is beautiful, so much so I’m not going to paint over the lovely wood grains. I’ll either lightly stain it or simply seal it! It arrived perfectly intact and earlier than expected. I am so happy with everything about this purchase.I especially LOVE that is proudly made in the USA by skilled craftsmen!

Just installed it and haven’t had the opportunity to use it yet. The cover for the ironing board was broke (elastic broke). Contacted the seller and was going to send out a new one. I’m just disappointed that my iron doesn’t fit inside! It’s too long and too wide!!

Worked great for the first year and a half or so, although the shelf to hold the iron is too high in the cabinet to accommodate the size of most current irons. However within 18 months the board came out of the groove that it slides up and down in, gasket broken. Company phone is out of service when I tried to get replacement part. It appears they are out of business but you can still buy the product on Amazon.

I have purchased many Hideaway Ironing Board Cabinets, and I am never disappointed! These are NOT the cookie cutter ironing board cabinets that use MDF and plastic hinges that fall apart after a year. These are custom made cabinets that use real Maple wood for the face frame and the door. The hinges are metal and they have sleeve boards which no other Ironing Board company has. I have purchased through Amazon and also directly through them and the customer service is outstanding. They answer any questions promptly and if you have any problem with shipping they will take care of it and you don't have to deal with the carrier. If I could give them a more than 5 stars I would. The woodwork on this unit is terrible. The face frame is hot glued to a rim of 3/4” plywood rips and fastened with a couple of nails, then hot glued to the main box. As a woodworker, I’d never let something like this out of my shop. I took it apart and will rebuild it so it will last and take paint well. I’d recommend not to buy this if quality matters to you.

It is a nice looking piece and sturdy enough for my use. It doesn't need a floor prop (like many others), which would make it impossible to do some garments. The sleeve board is a bonus, and although mine is not installed properly, I'm still able to use it.Because it is partly recessed into the wall, the cabinet doesn't stick out that far, and can still store both boards and the iron. I had my carpenter install it for me, but I probably could have done it with a drywall saw.
