This is because the Yoyo can operate in two different modes "responsive" and "unresponsive". The default axle and bearing that is fitted from the factory is the responsive one (it is a flat bearing) and it enables you to return the Yoyo quite easily with a suitable jerk, although you can also keep the Yoyo spinning for half a minute or so at the end of the string and execute some not too difficult but fun tricks ("walking the dog" etc) So in this "responsive" mode the Yoyo really is suitable for anyone, young and old, although for kids and other complete beginners who have never played with a yoyo before it will take some practice even here to get the tug/jerk timing smooth and responsive. Also young children and others will need help with attaching the string correctly and creating the slipknot loop for their finger, see the instruction manual or details in the Amazon description. But if you are looking for a toy that can also challenge a young teenager and requires skill and practice then there is the second "unresponsive" axle and bearing which is pretty easy to swap over using the included tools. This second bearing is concave and you'll notice the difference straight away as now the Yoyo will not return with any kind of tug/jerk! This is frustrating at first but there is a special "binding" technique that can be learnt in one or two afternoons that will enable the Yoyo to return. The 7-step pictorial instructions in the user manual are not easy to follow and you will do better to search for a short video online showing the technique. You can of course just switch back to the first bearing if it becomes too frustrating but I think it is a great idea to have both types available, one for a fun relaxing toy and the other for something quite challenging that demands some discipline to learn and certainly to get to advanced tricks.

I've been using plastic beginner yoyos for a while and I wasn't expecting there to be much difference between them and a metal, advanced yoyo. This metal yoyo looks and feels so much more premium than the plastic version. This advanced, metal yoyo is much heavier than the plastic versions and seems to have better bearings because it spins for ages. Because of this, it’s more forgiving when trying to learn new tricks. The yoyo came with a responsive yoyo already installed (which is the standard type for beginners where the yoyo returns the tugged). There is an unresponsive bearing provided which is for more advanced tricks. Changing the bearings is pretty was with the provided tool. The yoyo itself is beautiful. The metal is perfectly finished with a vibrant colour. It looks great on a shelf, but when you use it the colours blur and become a completely different colour. It's really well made and the accessories are handy too. There are lots of replacement strings, so I won't have to worry about damaging them. I think this is a great kit for yoyo enthusiasts.
