RIP OFF - Soundtracks Should INCLUDE Title Track - NO Adele
Amazon really should allow ZERO star ratings because this "soundtrack" is a JOKE. I have NEVER bought a movie soundtrack before and had the Oscar-winning title track left off!!! That is until I had the misfortune to come across this complete RIP-OFF. I should've read what actual songs were on this money leeching scam, but what movie soundtrack in your collection doesn't have the title track?!? Certainly none of mine...until this piece of.... I can't even donate this because who in their right mind would pass this on to some poor soul? It's sadistic and criminal, not charitable.I should've read the reviews on this soundtrack before I bought it, but I didn't because I had heard Adele's Skyfall *title* track and knew it was amazing. I didn't need a review to tell me that...ah, but wait. On this particular movie soundtrack, the reviews really should have been read because the product itself is BAD. This stinks of a bait-n-switch...DEFINITELY a money grab type moment.I wasn't going to rate this...thing...because what more can I add? But, it's been some time since I purchased it and I'm *still* wishing I hadn't. Maybe the volume of discontent and frustration of the masses will sway the next person from making a mistake...DO NOT BUY THIS CD!!! I was so mad, I couldn't even enjoy the CD which probably has great Bond centric composed pieces. Even if that is your reason for thinking about purchasing this CD, DO NOT BUY THIS CD!!! It only encourages bad practices and I do not want it to become the norm to have to buy two CDs for movie soundtracks in the future. I know this is the digital age and maybe this was an idea to profit on all fronts, but this approach is BAD BUSINESS. The "brainchild" must be patting themselves on the back for this financial maneuver. I'm pretty sure there's a special place in you-know-where for them. They certainly have earned it.

A good vinyl package
My vinyl has a number of 048 at the back of the cover. This is a limited of 500 of red over white vinyl. I love all of the gimmicky stuff that they included in this vinyl: the thick gatefold sleeves, 3D pop up in the middle, the very nice booklet which listed the songs and credit for the arrangment and pictures from the movie, the multi color vinyl. When I bought it at amazon, it was on sale for $20. I’ve heard the music already and is familiar with it so it was no brainer for me to pick this up. The score by Tomas Newman is amazing. It’s a strong scores for a very good movie. The extra stuff that comes with the vinyl is a nice addition. This is a collector limited edition. Amazon often listed a description that is not quite correct. But this time they are correct. And as of the time I was writing this, it was on sale for $16.95.

Thomas Newman's pulse pounding James Bond score.
It took me a while to decide what I was going to say about this score after I first heard because I just couldn't decide if I absolutely loved it or just liked it. After listening to this album several times and after seeing the movie, I can definitely say this is one of the most exciting scores of the Bond franchise. As a huge Thomas Newman fan, I was curious of course to hear what Newman came up with for a Bond score. At first I didn't know what to think after hearing his beautiful scores to "Road to Perdition", "Little Children" and many others. After seeing the movie it made more since and made the listening experience much better. I believe Newman deserved his Oscar nomination for this because it fit the movie like a glove. This may not be Newman's most beautiful score but it's his most pulse pounding and action packed score. It'll definitely get you going once you start listening to it.Is this CD without faults? Of course not...The excellent Oscar winning title song "Skyfall" by Adele wasn't included, probably because of some contract idiocy. My main gripe about this album is that the songs aren't in sequential order so one has to flip tracks around on this CD to find a certain one. Other than that I say this album is worth your time.My final advice...don't expect this to be like David Arnold or John Barry. It doesn't compare to them at all. Accept that and you'll enjoy this.

Definitely not what was on the box !! But the CD arrived on time !!
Very upset, not up to Amazons and their sellers usual standards.I wanted Adele singing Skyfall on the soundtrack of Skyfall, as she is on the film soundtrack on the film.( I have never, ever heard of any film soundtrack, ever leaving the main tracks off, ever ) I would never have bought this, if I had known it was missing.Massive problem, was on looking for info on your Amazon site, I could not see or find, anything saying Adele's Skyfall track was not on there. On receiving the CD, in very small print on the cover, it does state that the track is missing - which you can not see on our Amazon monitor screenI was so angry and disgusted, I straight away took this CD down to our charity shop, rather than bother to let the seller and Amazon know - At least I had the courtesy to let the charity shop know Adele's Skyfall track was missing.

What soundtracks are all about.
Very good soundtrack by Thomas Newman, stands on its own without the film. This is what soundtracks are all about, variations in style and pace. There’s the occasional note from the Bond theme to indicate it’s from a Bond film. Bit annoyed that the theme song is not included but I put that down to greedy film/music producers, I will not be buying it separately, maybe in the future they’ll release a CD with it included and bonus tracks, but I won’t hold my breath. If you like Bond soundtracks you should enjoy this.

A good solid first entry to the Bond series from Thomas Newman
The score for Skyfall is a long one, coming in at just under 80 minutes and boasting 30 tracks, which range from the minimalist and atmospheric to the action-packed. As some other reviewers have noted, it doesn't include Adele's title song, but it features a very high proportion of the other music used in the film, so I haven't allowed this to affect the star rating.I had some doubts about buying this soundtrack after seeing the mixed reviews, and was unsure about it on my first play-through, but most of the tracks have grown on me considerably. As is common with Thomas Newman's soundtracks, there is a large array of different musical ideas that are used for a short while and then dropped, rather than frequent use of leitmotif (recurring use of an individual theme), which may put some off, but the James Bond theme is subtly integrated into many of the tracks and at least two tracks have subtle cues from Adele's title song. The score combines elements of Thomas Newman's style with the Bond style, resulting in something that sounds a bit different, and that benefits from repeated listenings. The theme used in "Voluntary Retirement" and "Mother" is quite memorable, as is the sequence used in "New Digs" for example. It's worth having a sound system with a good "bass" to get the most out of some of the tracks, particularly regarding the frequent "action" tracks during the second half of the soundtrack.I wouldn't quite place this soundtrack up there with John Barry's best efforts, but I find it the most enjoyable of the non-Barry Bond soundtracks, and I'd certainly be up for Thomas Newman being given another go for Bond 24.

Better than Arnold, but not memorable
It seems a lot has been written about this score already, so my comments will be brief.Thoman Newman has one major advantage over David Arnold; he is actually a musician and not just a producer who dabbles in composing. This guy knows how to handle strings and turns up some lovely cues, especially "Tennyson" and "Skyfall" which are highly evocative. Even Newman's rendition of Arnold's James Bond Theme arrangement sounds somehow better and more competent than Arnold's version.But... I couldn't agree more with another reviewer on here (Big Si), who says give it to Alexandre Desplat in future. Against all modern trends in film music, Desplat knows how to weave a strong theme and make you remember.Newman's Skyfall score works very well in context, but you don't come out of the cinema humming the tune and that is crucial for anything that's going to be called "classic Bond".

A trap!
I also fell into the trap believing that Adele's song Skyfall was on the soundtrack. The music is very good, but as many others have commented on, I have never heard of a soundtrack, which does not feature the main song. What a con

Relive the film through music
It was a daunting task for Thomas Newman to take responsibility for the soundtrack of Skyfall - an opportunity with a risk. He has come out of it exceptionally well. Naturally the spectre of John Barry always looms, but that aside, the music matches the intensity of the film with glimpses of the earlier loved bond themes. For those who bemoan not having Adele singing 'Skyfall' then consider what I have done - purchase Adele's song in mp3 for £0.79 and start your session off with it or introduce it wherever you like. I use iTunes and the task is so easy. Splendid! One slight gripe is that the sequence does not match the film. To overcome this I have rearranged the order of play in iTunes.

I have given this some time to settle in, and....
I am giving this score a solid 3 stars. It isn't as weak as some reviews have made out, nor is it breaking any new ground at all. For me, it is just a bit too generic in places. I don't think the lack of the Bond theme is an issue - some of Arnold's better work didn't need it, and we don't necessarily need it here either. But somehow the whole soundscape is just lacking a little sparkle. It is suitably moody and atmospheric in the right places, so it doesn't jar with what is going on in a rather darker Bond film at times. Tennyson was getting a bit too melodramatic for my liking though. I suspect we will have more of the same for Bond24, since Newman is sure to be back if Mendes is directing again.

Nope! It's not on this disc!
Would have got the full 5 stars, if it had the one piece of music, you'd expect!Says "Original motion picture soundtrack", but "Skyfall" by Adele, is NOT on this disc! And you only find that out, by reading the small print on the back, or listening all the way through.

Great Musical Score
I had already bought this CD for my brother as he had requested it for his birthday and decided to order one for myself also. I am a big Bond fan and have always loved the music right from Sean Connery's first, Dr No. I have only given 4 stars as I am greatly disappointed that Adele's title track is not included ..... ! Why not???

Five Stars
Always loved the bond movies.

Disappointing
It doesn't have the theme song on it, it doesn't really flow like a John Barry theme, it doesn't seem to tie together and sounds like a lot of different pieces put together with nothing in common, I do like some of Thomas Newman themes but this is not one of them.

still good price, shame it did not mention the Bond ...
Was hoping the Skyfall tune mentioned on the back sleeve was the one by Adelle but no, still good price, shame it did not mention the Bond theme tune was not actually on the cd.

Skyfall soundtrack
Strangely this music was not nearly so effective when played apart from the film itself. It was all much of a muchness. As a backing for the film however, it was very effective.

Barry reigns over all
Newman is not in the Barry league - imitation is the best form of flattery - it is what Barry/Bond fans are looking for. A sound enough album.
