Making Wire Jewelry

I was a little disappointed in this book.I would not have said that many of the projects were easy, but the techniques are clearly described and illustrated. As it is an American book it is difficult to know the thickness of wire needed for the projects without a conversion chart as most wire sold in the UK is measured by thickness rather than gauge. Mnaybe it's just me, but I did not find many of the projects to my taste except the first one which I have completed using silver plate wire (not mentioned in the book) which is much cheaper than silver.The techniques are clearly explained and having the exact measurements illustrated very useful. Overall, I would not say this is a book for beginners, it certainly helped me to have some knowledge and experience of working with wire.

Absolute bargain and fast delivery.

It's not difficult to work wire, but there is a knack to it, and this book has all the tips you need to get the knack. I already had it through past experience of other types of wire working, so I was really looking for ideas to make fancy "chain" links. There are a good many in this book and I'm already using and adapting them. I'd like to have seen a larger "library of ideas/variations" to flick though in the future when looking for inspiration.

.I'm a fairly experienced wire worker and I love the ideas in this book. The designs are easy to make at home with no special equipment (except a pair of pliers & cutters) and the finished jewellery looks very professional.Some designs are a little laborious (but that's the nature of making a chain or necklace from wire - you have to repeat each link.) However, the designs are all individual not variations on a theme and you can alter them yourself - adding beads and embelishments.This is by far the best Wire Jewellery book I have ever found for either beginners or the more experienced but particularly for those wishing to make professional looking jewellery with the contents of their existing toolbox.
