Yes! The Cyclone is heavy enough to stay on top of the skimmer basket when pump turns off. Does not float.

Yes! The cyclone sits on top of the basket, so it doesn’t matter if there is or is not a sock. Please let us know if you have further questions!

Q: Wouldn’t this cause my air to be drawn into the pump and filter creating a cyclone?

Hi Jeff, The Cyclone does increase the water flow in the skimmer. In the event the suction is too strong, "sucking in air", there are a couple suggestion to correct this. 1) Flip the Cyclone upside down, this will still increase your water flow but with a reduced flow rate, depending on your water level. Water level plays a key role here. 2) Reduce / redirect the skimmer suction at your main filter unit, which will also increase suction at the other intake sights to a desirable setting that still allows the Cyclone to create the water flow in your skimmer and now increasing water suction to your other intake sights as well. The Weir Wedge is an excellent tool to open the weir door / skimmer float door to allow water to more freely enter the skimmer. If it allows too much water in to the skimmer causing too strong of a Cyclone, then remove the Weir Wedge and see how it adjusts the water flow. Please note, this version of the Cyclone fits an 8" skimmer basket.
