These Horizon organic, low fat, shelf-stable 8-ounce cartons of milk with Vitamin D are ideal for helping bones absorb calcium, and each carton has 8 grams of protein. The size is also perfect when baking and one cup of milk is called for, or to take on car trips, or for children or grandchildren to put in their lunch boxes or bags, making its portability a plus. I am a two-time cancer survivor, and my bones were weakened from too many radiation treatments and from a medication after breast cancer that left me with daily lower back pain (thankfully, I am no longer on that medication and am pain free). I have periodic check-ups and scans, one of which was a bone density scan six months ago. Although my spine was reported as having normal bone density (that was a blessing), both femurs in my thighs showed low bone mass (my things were at the bottom of the radiation field). That was a wake-up call, so I decided to drink milk every day. I maintain an organic-only diet and was buying half gallons of milk from another brand. Then I stumbled upon this product that is both delicious and convenient. I am now buying it weekly. I work at home and refrigerate all six petite cartons, which do not take up much space in the refrigerator. They are a reminder to get my daily dose of calcium, and I drink one with my lunch every day. The attached straws add to their ease of use. The taste and quality are excellent, as is the value for the money. I highly recommend this product.

Convenient to have without refrigeration, and tastes absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend this product for traveling.

This milk is perfect for those of us who don't drink much milk but need to keep it on hand for the occasional bowl of cereal or for certain recipes. It is IDEAL for bad weather when power outages are likely. It is shelf stable and has a few months storage life. It is real milk, so it tastes like real milk and has the texture of real milk. It IS real milk. I've used it for years and used to get it at the grocery store. They no longer carry it, so thank goodness for Amazon! It is always in my fridge (although it could be in my cabinet instead). It is a bit more expensive than bottled milk, but if you normally use just a bit of the bottle and throw away the rest, this boxed milk will save you money in the long run.

This Organic Horizon low-fat milk is 1% with 2.5g fat per 8 oz and 110 calories. This is shelf stable (only need to refrigerate if opened) but still has the same taste and texture as fresh milk from the dairy section of the grocery store. These cartons have peel open tops as well as straws and are convenient backup for when I run out refrigerated milk and don’t want to make a special trip to the store just for milk. The cartons travel well for work to use in coffee, with cereal, etc., and these are perfect for school lunches too. I’m happy with the quality and convenience of this milk. I don’t stock up on shelf stable milk and buy as the small cartons I buy tend to have a short shelf life. However, it should still have a number of months (not weeks) before expiration. Dates vary but the Horizon milk I received has 5 months until expiration, which is reasonable and similar to the shelf life left when I’ve bought Organic Valley 1% milk cartons. I suggest checking price on both brands as this Horizon milk is a currently a superior value to 1% Organic Valley at about half the price for 18 instead of 12 cartons that are 8 oz each rather 6.75 oz. Will buy Horizon again. 5 stars.

It's fresh on amazon and not spoiled like the ones in the supermarket that has little white pieces inside, so I stopped buying it from the supermarket.
