Great quality for low cost
I am amazed at the sound quality of these hearing aids. I am very happy with my purchase. I was able to hear more easily the people in my life who I think talk quietly. I don’t have to ask them to repeat as often. I can have the car radio volume lower and hear it well. The sound quality is good, not tinny. They are easy to insert and remove and so far they stay put. The battery life seems plenty long for my use. The volume and frequency can be adjusted. They come with various sizes of plastic ear domes. Their charging case and maintenance are convenient and not complicated. Audien has proactive customer service. A few days after delivery, Carlo from Audien called to find out how my experience has been using Atom One. I think if I had issues, Audien would give me a credit toward more expensive and newer versions but for now I am happy with what I have. I had the usual good purchase experience and delivery with Amazon. The listing had a $10 Amazon coupon. The Atom One is a worthwhile expense for me to see if hearing aids would be comfortable for me and would make a difference. A few days after delivery, there was a 20% Amazon discount and the only way Amazon would have given me the price adjustment was if I returned the aids I received and ordered new ones using the better discount. That seemed short-sighted given that: the items had been in my ears; I wanted to keep them; and Amazon would have to pay for return shipping. But that is Amazon’s policy. I didn’t return and reorder. I have mild hearing loss due to age/damage, not fluid buildup, and for me the Atom One hearing aids are a great quality and low-cost option.

Amazing for the money
Bought these for my mother who was putting off hearing aids despite hearing decline, esp in one ear. She absolutely loves them and can hear! For $100 I figured why not try them and we are amazed at how clearly she can hear. Set up was a non issue. They work well in crowded areas too. They do have squealing feedback if they are not seated properly, but easily fixed when they are fitted. Discrete as well.

The case is NOT self charging; must be plugged in to provide power.
So far this is the best of a number of OTC aids I’ve tried. The lack of Bluetooth and an app to test your hearing are drawbacks but understandable at this price point so I’m awarding 5 stars. A few things you may not figure out right away: --The cleaning brush has a mini screwdriver at one end used to adjust volume and frequency. You can also use a screwdriver or (carefully) the tip of a paring knife. --Contrary to descriptions here, the case does NOT have its own battery and must be plugged in to charge. This is confusing if you’re used to AirPods etc with self-charging cases. --I found it useful to turn the volume up all the way then crank it back till it stops whistling. The second adjustment is for frequency and you’ll need to use trial and error to find what works for you. --The “ear guard” is a thin cylinder at the outer edge of the body of the aid that keeps ear wax from getting lodged deeper where it can’t be removed. Your accessory pack includes 5 sticks used to change the ear guards; the dark end is used to remove the existing guard and the light end is the new ear guard which you will then insert.

Works, but with some noise and resonance
The Product works to a degree. When everything is to the optimum, it gives good amplification. However, it's tricky to make it work. It gives a lot of constant beeping noise. You can maneuver it to take the noise off, but sometimes it is hard. When the amplification is on, you can hear almost nicely, except some resonance. The worst part of resonance is when you talk, your ear feels uncomfortable from it. So, when your main purpose is talking, it's better not to have it on. I only need it for one ear, but you can imagine when you have them for both ears. It says once the devices are in the charging box, they are turned off. However, very often the beeping noise is still on. You have to maneuver it again to have the noise off.

It also works for those with more hearing loss...
After many hours of searching and wanting to not break the bank, I chose these. My hearing loss is a bit more than most, with one ear having overall moderate-to-severe hearing loss, and the other having only a few frequencies in that moderate-to-severe loss. With that background, I know that my need is more than can be met by this device. But choosing this Audien Atom One was the best choice for me. I figured that out because I also purchased the Atom X at the same time. I thought that the Atom X, since it had more features, might provide me with better hearing. For me, it wasn't the best option. I found that the Atom One can be adjusted to a suitable volume with the dial directly on each hearing aid. It seemed to me that I was able to turn it up louder on the Atom One. One other important thing about these devices: I had previously had a hearing device that was more of an amplifier. With this type, everything is louder, including the ambient noise (rooms with tile floors are the worst!). The Atom One is better than the amplifier style of hearing device since it apparently does noise cancellation with the ambient noise. It's a little hard for me to discern the noise cancellation since my hearing need exceeds the usual use of this device. Even so, I get a sufficient amount of help from this hearing aid. However, I'm not a fan of the rechargeable aspect of this device. I would much rather have a battery that lasts a few days, and after replacing the battery (3 minutes later), I have full use of the device. With a rechargeable device, I have to wait at least an hour or more to get full use of the device again. So, I have to charge it every night to make sure I get the full day's use. I suspect I have to charge it daily since I have it turned up quite loud. Right out of the box, the Atom One was very easy to use. One more observation: the use of the frequency dial seems to be an adjustment on the sound you actually hear. I had hoped I could increase the dial to hear better in the frequencies that I'm most deficient in. Wishful thinking. But now that I understand the device better, of course it's adjusting the sound you hear. Overall, I think it's a great product for those with the hearing loss this is designed for since I'm getting a good amount of use from it, and I'm really stretching the limits. Who wants to pay thousands of dollars for a hearing aid?
