In the Top 5 of Pink Floyd Bios
So, there's a rather big disclaimer to start of this review -- what you learn from this book is really going to be dependent on what Floyd bios you've already read. I have most of the books ever published on Pink Floyd, so there was very little presented here that I didn't already know. (Although there were a couple new tidbits. The one that sticks in my mind was the fact that Floyd's contract specifically stated that no one of the "Big 4" could stake a claim to the Pink Floyd brand. In all the discussions of the Waters/Gilmour battle I've read over the years, I don't remember seeing this before). If you are looking for intense detail, you want to go with the Schaffner or Blake books, as those two set the standard not just for Floyd books, but for rock bios in general. Nick Mason's book is a close second, with the Miles/Mabbett book rounding out the crowd. Then I would finish the Top 5 with THIS book, primarily on the strength of the visual presentation. It really is a beautifully done book, with lots of pictures I'd never seen before. And while Fielder doesn't break any new ground, what is here is factually correct. And certainly, there are some other great, extremely detailed Floyd books that might have more info than this one ("The Press Reports", Glenn Povey's much-revised book, and The Pink Floyd Encyclopedia being prime examples), but these aren't narratives, and lack some of the overall readability the "Behind the Wall" has.In summary, I'd recommend this book as a strong starting place for those interested in a PF bio, and then move on to some of the others when you're ready to begin your Floyd Doctorate program.

No new quotes or research, total duplication of other works - reads like a wikipedia article.
I am a huge PF fan. My tastes run more to the early Floyd, including the Syd years and up through Meddle. I enjoy the later albums, but I rarely listen to them. I own at least a dozen books on PF and Syd Barrett. There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING NEW in this book. There are a couple pics that I have not seen before, but it is almost entirely made up of quotes published in multiple other books. No new scholarship or interviews whatsoever. There is no "editorial slant" to the book, so it is neither pro-Roger or pro-Dave. It is one thing to be "even-handed," another to write a book on a already well-documented subject without injecting even a minimal opinion or suggestion as to why this particular book should have been written. It is so bland and uninteresting, it reads like a wikipedia article. What a total waste of money (fortunately, not much of a waste of time, as I read the entire book in about an hour).

Good entry point for newer fans
Nothing really new here but a nice, comprehensive biography of the band. A nice read for longtime fans but probably better suited to folks unfamiliar with the group's history. It'd be a nice entry point for folks new to the band.

Nothing new here.
Nothing new here. Not even up-to-date. Just a lazy, rehashed overview sourced from music mags you've likely read. If you really want it to add to your collection, wait a bit; it will end up in the bargain books section of your favorite book store soon.

Ideal for collector
A nice item which could be better if some of the inaccuracies were not present. As a Pink Floyd enthusiast it adds to the collection
