Great price and well made
The saw is well made and the handle is very comfortable. This saw was 30-40% cheaper on Amazon than at the big box stores. I had to cut the baseboard and this saw worked well. I recommend this saw.

It helps you cope with baseboard and trim jobs
I needed to cope some baseboards and for the life of me, couldn't find my coping saw. I needed one in a hurry and this Irwin was available for same day delivery, so I pulled the trigger. It showed up and within 10 minutes I put it to work coping baseboards. It's of good quality and got the job done after I reversed the direction of the blade. No real complaints to be found. I believe there are nicer and better coping saws out there, but if you don't use one daily, I think this is a great option. I have a variety of Irwin tools and I can't of one that let me down over the years.

Irwin Tools Pro-Touch Coping Saw
Solid basic hand tool. The grip feels comfortable and it seems easy enough to control for lighter detail cuts. Good option to keep around for small trim or hobby projects.

Excellent coping saw if you get a good copy
I think the Irwin coping saw deserves a 5-star rating, if based solely on the copy currently in my possession, which is a replacement for a copy that I returned to Amazon because of a defect as explained below. Upon receiving the first Irwin coping saw from my initial order, as others have also discovered, I noticed that the slot in the rear blade-holding pin (the one closer to the handle) was at a 15-degree angle with the frame and the handle; the blade was bent at the pin because of that. The saw would still be usable, but the blade would likely break prematurely due to the stress point created by the bend. I attempted to reseat the press-fitted pin by pushing it out in a machinist vise but the pin was fitted so tight and refused to budge. I gave up before I would cause any damage to the pin/saw and sent the saw back to Amazon. But I liked everything else about the saw except for the orientation of the rear pin, everything else was of excellent quality. The handle was grippy and comfortable also easy to loosen/tighten, the blade had sharp teeth, the frame was square and strong with nice welds. The pins can be rotated to set the blade at any desirable angle. A search on the internet revealed that Lowe's stores also carry this model so I drove to a local Lowe's store in the hope to cherry-pick one that's assembled correctly. I was very disappointed when I discovered that, out of the seven saws on the shelf, only two of them had the slots in both the front and rear pins aligned correctly with the frame. Yet the handles on both saws were misaligned with the frame! And among the seven samples, some had two flat washers where the handle is secured to the frame, instead of a flat washer plus a steel bushing, like the copy I got from Amazon. In view of the situation, I took my chance and ordered again from Amazon, in the hope the batch Amazon received was from a factory with better QA and I was not disappointed; the second copy from Amazon was perfect! In conclusion, this coping saw is an excellent value if you get your hands on a good copy, but it seems quite a few copies slipped through Irwin's QA line and made it to the market; and if you happen to get one of those, it would still be usable, just not ideal.

Please note to have safety first and to wear gloves and eye protection, even though I was not.
This item literally cut through these 2 hot wheels like butter. I admit it did have a bit of a hard time cutting through the metal part, but this thing was an absolute beast. Once it got in a good position, it would cut through the metal part like butter. 100% of me recommends this to anyone looking to cut certain materials.

Great for beginners!
received this today and I had to try the saw immediately. LOVED IT!! it cut the wood smoothly and easy to handle. This is great for my beginner crown moulding project. I ordered more blades today. Can't wait to finish my corners.

happy, with limited/hobby usage
I've had the Irwin ProTouch coping saw (2014400) for 5 months now, as an occasional handyman, using it only a coupla times, but happy with it overall at it's price point ($9.98 + tax) w/amazon free shipping). To reiterate (via copy>paste) what others have expressed: "as others have also discovered, I noticed that the slot in the rear blade-holding pin (the one closer to the handle) was at a 15-degree angle with the frame and the handle; it seems quite a few copies slipped through Irwin's QA line" --the blade being slightly bent at the pin because of that; the saw had proven usable --with just a coupla minor projects. One project was cutting rubber as a threshold ramp, 3/4" thick, to custom fit snugly around the door frame molding (having used a Saker contour gauge profile tool to get it's shaping copied). The other was cutting some small sections of sheetrock. The second issue i've seen in other reviews & that match my experience, is: " The 'keeper' nut has no threads. It merely acts as a spacer." Apparently the intended purpose of this nut "is to lock the adjustment side to keep the blade from loosening or turning." The one on mine merely slides along the shaft until you screw than handle down and it butts against it. Again, i've not noticed it affecting usage (thus far), but make note of it please. With my noted usages, it's worked just as coping saws should, in my limited experience, as my dad's old classic wood handle version did over the years. #shoutout to those who's review material i've paid forward, as having been my identical experience :-)

Attractively priced, well made, and backed by a long warranty.
After my coping saw walked away from a job-site, picking this up this sturdy saw as a replacement was a no-brainer. It's attractively priced, well made, and backed by a long warranty.
