Queen: On Camera, Off Guard Hardcover – February 1, 2012

I really enjoyed this book. One reviewer commented on the confusing way the author referenced some photographs, but after I got the author's rhythm down I was able to read without being frustrated. For me there were a lot of good photos and I enjoyed the little stories the author told; some about the band others about his life. For me the best part of the book was the photographs. I bought this book not for a biography, but for the pictures. If you want a lot of information about the band/members this may not be the book for you, but as I only have two books on Queen I really enjoyed all of the photographs. I can't speak to how rare the photos are, someone who has a lot of photographs/books may already have some of the photographs. The book seems to be a good quality hardbound book; I am very pleased with my purchase.

A great look back at the best rock band ever. Queen was an ever-evolving band of fine musicians and smart men. The pictures and text of their early days was informative and fun. Well worth buying for Queen fans and rock fans in general. Younger people should get to know these terrific artists. Their music and ingenuity is still unequaled.

This is a nice coffee table book, in my opinion. The book consists of excellent quality photograps on very good paper. There were some rare phitos, especially of then early on. I only with there were more candid photos included duribg the '80's, my favorite time period of Queen. Over all, I think it was worth every penny, and a good purchase if you are a Queen memorabilia collector.

I haven't finished going through it yet but I love the authors excitement for the early photos and caring that the Queen legacy be preserved. It's for the Queen fan because sometimes a pic might be a blurry photo of an early gig andwho would care but a real fan. Not that there aren't great photos here i'm just saying, that like a parent witha less than perfect photo of a child's first step, the author cares.Thanks Mark for a nice book, who knows whether this will matter in the big picture of the human race,but I really love that you loved my favorite band.

I just love this book and the pictures are so candid. For me, I can't get enough of Queen and how they changed the music industry so this book is really mostly great pictures with stories behind the pictures and the events that marked their career. It doesn't tell anything more that is already written just wonderful pictures that have never been published before. A conversation piece about Queen and beloved Freddie.

Love this book. There are pics in here I've never even seen. I've been a Queen fan for 25 years and my love for them was recently ignited. This book is a nice addition to my Queen collection🖤

If you are a Queen fan from their early years (and that include pre-Queen years), then this is your book!It's a photography book but also some stories behind the pictures are explained.Some of the pictures it's the first time that are shown in the public eye.There are few 80s pics and only a pair of 90s, but still worths it!

There was quite a bit of damage to the edges of the book but no damage to any of the pages

Purchased this book as a Christmas gift for my 17 year old cousin who's a big fan of Queen - she loves it!

40周年を機に色々な関連書が、刊行されたが、これは主にクイーンの結成前にスポット当てておりフレディが、クイーン結成以前に参加していたバンドやブライアンとロジャーが在籍したＳＭＩＬＥなどの写真が、約200頁中70頁も掲載してあり、その殆どが恐らくプライベートな貴重なものばかりだ。説明文（英文）も載っているが、略写真集と云ってもイイ内容だろう。ＳＭＩＬＥのレコーディング風景では、未だピカピカなレッドスペシャルを手にする若き日のブライアンやあどけなさが残るロジャーが、拝めるし、学生バンド時代のフレディからは、既にどこかカリスマ性を感じさせられるのには驚いた。クイーン結成後も珍しい写真が満載だが、1976年以降はちょっと駆け足になっている。彼らと日本との関係は説明不要だろうが、ここでも初来日の写真などが、載っている。しかも、シンコーミュージック関係の物とは一線を画しているのが、日本のファンとしては嬉しい。（名古屋城観光は、東京になっているが・・・まぁ、40年近く前且つ英国著書だから・・・）。
