best traps out there.
caught multiple mice so don't need to keep resetting traps. great for when i can't be there every day to check traps. i leave a little peanut butter up the tracks going up to the bucket on each side. place it along the wall for best. works awesome for garages or storage buildings in the winter.

Hundreds of dead mice, years after I bought it
I have been using two of these for years in a rural home surrounded by pasture, and these do a great job of catching mice that make it into my garage. I catch 50-100 mice yearly with the mouse trap I built with this roller. The picture shows some chicken wire over these, which is optional! This was a recent addition to stop Ping Pong balls from falling into the bucket. I cut some ramps with some wood scrap, and used a drill to make holes to allow simple gardening stakes to be used to attach the ramps to the bucket. When I need to empty the bucket (drowned mice), then I pull the ramps and (optional) chicken wire guard off the bucket, and empty the bucket and re-attach the ramps and wire guard. You'll need to check the trap at least weekly, if not every other day. The dead mice smell after a while! The bucket needs to be washed out monthly to prevent the smell from getting too bad.The rubber component goes bad after 6-18 months of use, and has to be replaced. It seems to help the trap be more effective.

Didn’t fool the rats.
Didn’t work at all. Rats too clever, once it starts rolling they loose interest and move on.

A Better Mousetrap has been Built
So my friends and I had a running bet as to whether this mousetrap would catch more mice than a 'regular' mousetrap under the argument of building a better mousetrap. Well I set it in the barn along with two other regular mousetraps and I have to say this one is winning, it's caught 5X the mice as the regular traps. I figured it would catch more because it can catch more than 1 at a time. While this hasn't happened it has resulted in more mice caught. I just used an old 5 gallon paint bucket and some scraps of wood. I suppose if you don't have those on hand it will end up costing you more to get those parts. Also it does take up quite a bit of room so it may not be ideal under all applications, but if you have a barn or something like that with lots of mice it'll get rid of them for you.

Easy setup - works, no fuss
I recently purchased a rat trap bucket, and I couldn't be more satisfied with its performance. This trap is incredibly easy to use—simply bait it (peanut butter) and place it in an area where you've noticed rodent activity. The design ensures that rats drop into the bucket without any fuss, making disposal straightforward and hassle-free.What I appreciate most is the simplicity of the whole process. No complicated mechanisms or messy cleanup—just an efficient way to manage a rat problem. Plus, the bucket is durable and holds up well outdoors or indoors. If you’re looking for an effective and user-friendly solution for rat control, I highly recommend this trap. It does exactly what it promises, and it makes dealing with unwanted guests much easier!

Finally, a better mousetrap!
Living on a small farm, mice are simply a fact of life and as long as they stay out of the house, garage, and shop I'm fine. It is only when they come inside that they become pests.Over the years I've tried about every mouse trap on the market from the trusty old snap trap to modern live traps, sticky boards, and even a few professional electronic devices, and all with about the same lack of success. Several months ago I came across the rolling mouse trap and thought, "Oh, what the heck, give one a try." Best move I've made in quite a while! The roller assembly comes pre assembled and ready to mount in your bucket of choice. It fits perfectly in the buckets I bought from the local hardware store by drilling two 1/4" holes in the rim and the threaded rod used for the axle also acts as a landing for the ramps I made from some old 1 x 2 boards. Baited with some peanut butter smeared on the roller it is 100% effective. Mice smell the bait, run up the inclined boards (I use about a 30 degree angle), walk out onto the roller , and fall into the bucket. In a tall bucket (5 or 6 gallon) they can't jump back out and it works as a live trap, add about 2" of water with a 1/2 teaspoon of dish washing soap and they quickly drown. These traps average 3-4 mice a night and are the best value I have ever found. Since I started using them the mouse population around the house, garage, and shop has dropped to almost zero! Another plus is that I don't have to worry about kids or pets getting hurt by spring loaded traps or poisons! Great trap, great value, I highly recommend!

Did not work! Just a gimmick.
I put one of these on a bucket with water, baited and waited. The mice never got tricked into the bucket. Baited again multiple times. Also, I added additional boards to help mice get to top edge of the bucket. However, the mice are too clever, fast and smart! The only way I caught any mice into a bucket was when I opened the lid to my compost container, startled the mice and one accidentally jumped into a bucket while fleeing! I think the YouTube videos that show these sorts of gadgets working are with pet mice, not real wild mice. Wild mice are too fast and clever to fall for these. Also, the rubber black washer turned nasty. After a week or so, it basically started melting. When I cleaned the trap to put away, it got back gooey stuff on everything and was hard to clean off. Not sure what I'll use this for now and not sure if I can still return. Will try.
