Does it need a modem ?

No. It doesn’t come with a modem. It comes with built in Wi-Fi router for either wired or wireless connection. The wired connection uses the Ethernet port. Or you can connect wireless as it comes with 80211 AC wireless router built in. Note: These days your Internet Service provider (ISP) often provide you with one tower that contains a modem and a router. This allows you to connect your computer to the internet either wired or wirelessly.
