Almost Human: The Complete Series [DVD]

Loved this show and it broke my heart that it was not renewed for Season 2 - the chemistry between Karl Urban and Michael Irby was just fantastic, and the rest of the cast were equally outstanding. If ever a show should be revisited for revival, it is this one.

I don't watch that much TV - really and truly - would rather do other things.With that being said when this show was on TV I did indeed watch it and enjoyed it and was disappointed when it got cancelled. I can understand why these types of shows may get cancelled quickly - too much production value - and for that they need EXTREMELY high ratings. (Although if you compare the millions of viewers who tuned in then to Almost Human to the viewers that tune in now, even for the more popular shows - Almost Human beats them. Just shows how much TV viewership is on the decline.)If this show was cancelled on broadcast TV in this day and age - I can pretty much guarantee it would be picked up elsewhere. I guess this was a show before its time.Still really relevant - and I know some may think - it was only 7 years ago... But the smart phone didn't come out too far before that. Seriously when watching it - it feels like it is on TV right now technology-wise. Really wish it would have lasted another season or so.PS - the order of the episodes is out of the order produced on this DVD set - and rather shown in the order they were broadcast (which jumps around too much). This would have been a great series, had it survived. I believe the cost and a writer's strike helped kill the series before it took off. Too bad all we have first season. But it is a great view, you won't regret it. I feel well worth the cost of admission.

Great actors and fantastic idea, especially for its time. Too bad it ended unexplained. Although that is highly disappointing, it is so worth that minor disappointment. If you could grade the TV Execs who canceled it, they would get 13 stars, ALL NEGATIVE!!!

This was a great series - too bad it was not picked up for another season. I was disappointed that there was no closed caption option (the reason for 4 stars instead of 5) . My husband is hard of hearing and could not watch because he could not hear the dialog clearly. This is an important note that should be added to your DVD descriptions - for the hearing impaired.

Great cop bromance, funny, interesting characters with great chemistry. Fast paced action. Thoughtful commentary...oh maybe that is why it got cancelled. Loved the obvious "borrowing" from well-known movies! Such great plans for this show...what a shame. Still, it is a good single season of entertainment. There is no understanding of The Powers That Be, who make such decisions to cancel great TV shows with potential like this one had. And...BTW, watch the episodes as they are on the DVDs, and not according to a list a reviewer offered. We have no idea why it was thought that the DVDs episodes were out of order, but there is no reason to alter them, and in fact, the subtle building of relationships would have been destroyed by jumping ahead.

Almost Human is the best scifi series since Firefly: too bad FOXTV handled it the same way and cancelled after 13 eps. However, don't let that dissuade you from buying the complete series. The characters are well developed and played brilliantly, and the chemistry between Michael Ealy and Karl Urban is electric, hilarious, dramatic and touching in turns. Stories are provocative and well crafted; the special effects are awesome, well deserving of their Emmy nomination. Though there are 'loose ends' when the season ends (JHWyman had a five year plan that barely got started) the producers left it on a positive note that is satisfying rather than on a cliffhanger like so many series seem to end these days. Best show I've seen in years and everyone I know who has seen it agrees. You will not regret the purchase. Oh, eps aired out of order are not corrected on this offering so watch: Pilot, Perception, You Are Here, Arrhythmia, Skin, and then the rest in the order they're listed. This show was 30 out of the top 50 in 2013/14 and, on FOXTV, was the top 4 scripted show and top 7 of all shows on the network. This show was a hit and in any rational world would have been renewed year after year.

Remembering this uniquely fascinating first season when it was introduced in the 1980's - then, ubruptly cancelled by the network after the first season, my husband and I were beyond thrilled to find that Almost Human was available now on DVD/Blue Ray! Since our copy arrived (only 2 days ago), we have watched the entire first season, three times! The premise of the stories is imaginative, and smart. All actors (in their main roles) - particulary Michael Ealy and Karl Urban as partners on the police force, prove that they excel, and shine together, as actors! This was one of the more engaging, cerebral network series. I was truly disappointed that Amost Human was not renewed. Why the (Almost Human) series was ever cancelled, I shall never know! But, I highly recommend Season One! I can only hope that (someday), they will air more stories in a second, third and fourth series! The first season, exciting and action packed as it comes, is left open-ended, to say the least. Truly satisfying at best!

Si te gusta la ciencia ficción y eres fan de Phillip K. Dick, esta serie es para ti.Solo tiene 3 temporadas, porque fue cancelada demasiado pronto. Toda la historia es fascinante y cuenta con una realización realmente buena. Pensad que es PRE-NETFLIX/AMAZON/HBO, etc... Así que realmente buena teniendo en cuenta eso.Sí, hay un detective androide y humano, pero resuelven diferentes crímenes que podrían ocurrir en un futuro cercano porque nuestro conocimiento y capacidad de crear robots de aspecto humano está mejorando.Almost Human es una muy buena historia de detectives con encanto y carácter autenticos, ojalá retomaran su producción, la verdad.

The show was amazing and it makes me so mad to know that it didn't received a fair chance.Netflix should totally bring this show back (don't care that it has been years)

My only complaint is that they stopped making episodes.
