A Complete Guide to Learning the Irish Tin Whistle

I looked too quickly at the description (my fault) but would like to remind anyone considering this book that there is no CD with it and no link to the music. It is for those who read musical notation. There is a CD sold separately. That doesn’t mean it’s a bad book, but I thought I’d mention it.

I don't read music and the large pages and clear fingering diagram is very useful.

Very clear directions with a variety of techniques. Sent quickly.

Good book

A very complete learning aid. For the beginner it teaches basic fingering and music reading(Some previous experiance reading music helps). For the intermediate player ornimentaion, such as rolls and cuts, are explained and taught to really add spice to your playing. The bulk of the book is various styles of tunes (I counted about 100 tunes) for even advanced players. Fingerings are removed by page 17 (of nearly 100), so learning to read music is a must.

Learning tin whistle. Book is okay for first few pages, but quickly progresses to jigs and reels. The CD gives examples, but these are played full speed with no concessions to the total novice. It would take a very long time and constant practice to be able to achieve this standard. Would be good to have slow version of the tunes without ornaments to get the gist of the melody. Not a book for someone who is no absolutely dedicated to learning Irish whistle.
