Birdhouse Key Ring - Brown House with White Bird

I had mixed feelings on this. Like another reviewer said, mine arrived and appeared to be dirty at first glance. Upon opening it, I realized it wasn't dirty, so much as it still had mold release on it from when it was casted in the factory. That's what caused it to have dark splotches on it, not dirtiness. Unfortunately those splotches stained the white plastic. I didn't care too much about this, because washing it with Dawn dish soap removed some of the stain. I was a little bit disappointed that the casting of the bird was imperfect, mine has a small gap in its beak and it had a small amount of casting flash over the seam on the entire bird. I used a sanding block and that successfully removed the flash as well as the remaining stain. 2 minutes of sanding and it was looking much better. The little bird house doesn't have any particular flaws. It came with some kind of double sided adhesive foam tape on the back, but like another reviewer said, I know this will remove the paint from my drywall if I use it, so I'm not going to. I currently have it mounted on a nail via the single hole the bird house has in it. This is ineffective, and I understand why the instructions say to use a screw--the house will rotate on a nail. I don't really want to put a drywall anchor in my wall and a screw, so I haven't decided what I'll do yet. I might stick some of those removable poster hanging strip things that 3M makes to the house and see if that works. A screw without an anchor in drywall will just loosen over time and I don't want an anchor in this location very much... Also, like other reviewers said, it's worth smashing the little metal ring with some needle-nose pliers to prevent the key ring from separating from the bird in the future. Overall, this was $5 and free shipping, which means it was basically $1 plus shipping. What more could a person expect? It's nice for the price and worth buying. Just don't expect it to be perfect. It would only make a good gift if you either (1) got lucky and the one you received didn't have a mold release stain on it or (2) you're willing to open it up, wash it, sand it, and pinch the metal ring tighter for the gift recipient. I'd be willing to do option #2 if I didn't get lucky, so I think it's a fine gift. Just understand that you might not receive one that is ready to toss in a gift bag and give to somebody. The dirty looking bird was a bad first impression.

This is something that's really cute. I just wish the glue stick tapes in the back were A Little Bit Stronger but my walls could have old paint.Let me tell you about the bird. So cute and itis magnetic so when you pull it out and put the key back into the nest it kind of Finds Its Place. Also, the bird is a whistle so in case you're in danger, you can whistle or you can just whistle for no reason. it's really cute I get compliments on it every time someone leaves my front door they see it hanging right there and they ask where I got it and I tell them on Amazon and then I tell them the price and they end up ordering... it is super cute and what a great gift!

I love this! I don't like how it looks without my bird in his birdhouse so therefore I always make sure my keys are put away where they belong and if I walk by and they aren't there then I want to find them right away before I have to be looking for them when I'm in a hurry! My birdhouse has never fallen down. My keys are not super light and it is holding up strong. You could always use command strips if you want or feel like you need to. It is square on the back and has a hold where you could mount it with a nail also. Worth the couple bucks. I just purchased a pink one for my god daughter to use because she got her first house key. Perfect for adults and kiddos!

This item is everything I had hoped for. We use it on the daily for our mailbox keys. The whistle kind of works, but honestly I have no need for the whistle. My only issue is the double sided tape that it comes with. I hold two keys on it, but they are both on the heavier side. If you mount this to the wall with just the tape, I found that the bird house falls. I could have bought stronger double sided tape, but I decided to add my spare car keys to the keychain, so we opted to screw it in place to the wall (which is really awesome that their is hole in the back to do just that) I still think this was a wonderful item and I would repurchase this again.

I don’t care to admit how many full sets of keys I have lost. Don’t even judge me. As someone with ADHD, I tend to misplace things too much. Having a home for my keys has been a lifesaver.

This was purchased as a Game Prize gift (my family plays games on the holidays with inexpensive, fun gag or novelty gifts)& this served it's purpose.PROS:The house is super cute & the concept is really fun! A bird house with a key ring for someone that frequently looses their keys, that can be easily hung near the door. 3M stickers are attached on the back, so you don't have to put screws in the wall or purchase additional materials. This is a nice size, so will not look gaudy hanging up in a non bird fans house.CONS:Because this was purchased to be more of a "gag" gift, the fact that it is advertised as having a "safety" or Rape whistle as we referred to it....is actually extremely funny because you can barely hear it. We blew with all our might and the bird barely made an audible "peep". We laughed pretty hard about the concept of this crappy whistle being used as a potentially life saving measure.

I like it, but the ring holding the bird on the keys always bends and causes it to come off. I just lost my bird after a month of having it. Though… still buying another.

I was disappointed in the quality of the product. I thought it was made of wood, but it’s just thin cheap plastic. It’s still cute and I’m using it.

I like that it is also a whistle. I am giving it as a gift and think it looks very cute.
