verified purchase- Jessie Stone by Robert nParker
I ordered this set of 9 based on reviews. There were cheaper options but I chose this one after reading reviews for both. The cheaper option was sited for numerous problems, wrong disk, scratched disk, missed titles, doubled titles etc.. It seemed to be better to pay more and get the set with good reviews. As a precaution I opened and played all 9 for a few minutes. The "Paradise Lost" DVD showed scratches from either previous use or mishandling. I played it thru and found it to be free of skips or crashes. So 8 of 9 were as expected. I rated it 3 because of the scratched DVD but I would have rated higher had 1 not been scratched. The shipment was received in 2 days. Good news there. The Jessie Stone series is a winner as entertainment. I look forward to enjoying this set.

You will see nothing of this great series. Amazon ought to change the description
The one star is for Amazon not for the "Jesse Stone" series because the information provided by Amazon is wrong. The item description on Amazon's site says 'all regions' on the DVD code. This set arrived and all DVDs are tagged clearly 'region 1', so it will play in the USA but for example not in Germany where I live. So be careful if you don't own a 'region 1' player. You will see nothing of this great series.Amazon ought to change the description!

Great dvd set!
I bought this set for my dad for Christmas so I haven’t actually watched them myself. However, was super happy to see that it came as 9 separate dvds, each in their own case. My dad is an older man and would’ve had trouble with a set that had 9 dvds in one case. This also makes it really easy to watch the series in order. Very happy with this purchase 😀

Bought this for my mother as an Xmas gift.
Bought this for my mother as an Xmas gift. She loves this series, especially the music. We recently got 8 of the movies recorded off TV onto our TiVo (and she's been watching them over and over), but this set has the 9th movie, and gives her the way to keep these forever, when TiVo is screaming for more room. However, color me confused. We live in the USA, and when I bought this set, the item description on Amazon said 'all regions' on the DVD code. This set arrived in 2 days, having shipped from here within the USA (I know, I tracked it). But on the back of the box, it is clearly tagged 'region 4', which is Australia and New Zealand.Plays fine in our DVD player, which has a region 1 (USA) code on the back of it. I've read that some players can be adjusted to play discs from other regions around the world, and I think mine is one of them, but I've never gone thru the steps to do so. So I don't know how a product that is advertised as 'all region', tagged as 'region 4', plays in a DVD 'region 1' player.Just thought I'd put it out there.

6 of 9, What happened?
The box set was missing three of the movies, and I had to return it. It was a gift to my In-Laws, so I did not find out it was missing some in the series. When I did I returned the set. I am ordering it again, hope all of them are included, as per description.

Loved them. Wish there were more
I love these movies. Not sure why but they just are feel good movies. Tom Selleck is a perfect main character.

Jesse Stone--at my beck and call!
I love Jesse and have wanted these dvds for the longest time. Finally bit the bullet and ordered--and intend to watch him often. I love the music--even bought the soundtrack. I tried the books, but the dialogue is very terse--as it sometimes seems in the movies. It's just much easier to digest when Tom is delivering, I guess. I love characters with obvious flaws that seem to function in spite of them.

Love This Series
Love Tom Selleck as Chief Stone. I bought the collection to watch whenever the mood hits. It's the only movie"collection" I own. Hope there are more stories coming soon! Well written with good supporting actors (especially William Devane as Chief Stones "shrink" - perfect!)

An Absolute Masterpiece
I am seduced by this series. I bought the collection of all 9 films in october 2018 but I had been watching them for a long time before that on television. But these are better as they have not been edited down to fit the time slots. The name attracted me. Jesse Stone. And the colours the beautiful house and surroundings where Jesse lived. My favorite shots are those of Tom Selleck and the dog Reggie walking across the footbridge to the house. The series spans many years - 3 dogs - the first one old and dying and then in the next episode the main dog Reggie. He belonged to a murder victim and Jessie took him home with him. He lived a long life, died of old age and then in the last episode a new dog arrives. The colours and textures all seem to compliment the rich light chestnut colour of Reggie's coat. Jessie drinks neat whiskey and wears mostly beige and brown clothes. The stories are all very different from each other and there are also stories running through several episodes. So it is complex. The television scripts are developed from novels written by Robert. B. Parker who sadly died while one of the films was being made. A hugely talented and prolific writer. I consider this to be Tom Selleck's masterpiece as an actor. Yes Blue Bloods is a much longer series and he is excellent in that. But here there is much more depth. At times a lot of meaning without much being said. I have watched these films many times and even now when they come up on television dip in and enjoy just parts of the stories which I know so well. All 9 episodes are in my top 100 must have films. Oh and Viola Davis is there too acting perfectly.

Jesse Stone, excellent drama!
Tom Selleck is brilliant as Jesse Stone, I love his character in this role, his relationship with his dog Reggie plus William Devine as his therapist is intriguing.I always watch " Night Passage " first before " Stone Cold " as episode 1 & 2 are in the wrong order , does anyone else agree with me ?Anyhow.... Great drama, Tom Selleck as his best! Apparently he's filming episode 10 this year! So look out for it! 😀

Please Rearrange!!
Great series but would have been nice if they had put the movies in sequence with the books. You need to watch Disc 2 before Disc 1 for the correct timeline and sequence of the books. I don't care what year the movies were made just put them in sequence so the stories align with one another.

Superb cop drama with real heart and soul!
Jesse Stone showcases Tom Selleck’s character driven acting chops at their best in what I consider to be his most successful role to date. The exterior and interior settings are atmospheric, the ensemble cast is spot on and the pace is unashamedly slow-measured when it needs to be. This series is sensitive and thoughtful story telling of fascinating and well written stories. Recommended.
