4" Steel Lathe Faceplate, 1" x 8TPI

This Hurricane faceplate ended up being a real disappointment.In the first photo, the faceplate on the left is the Hurricane faceplate I recently purchased which I had to modify to make it useful for accurate centering; the faceplate on the right is my original faceplate and what I assumed the Hurricane I recently purchased would replicate.The second photo shows the inside of the Hurricane flange with the modification I made to reduce the 1" open the center down to an 1/8". I epoxied a fender washer in the center opening so the flange could be accurately centered.In truth, I would not buy this faceplate again.

I purchased the wrong size for my husband's birthday! Unfortunately, I had it wrapped for over a month and hidden in the closet--the day of his birthday was one day after the returns were allowed. That's my own fault, but when we called to find out if they could help us with the right size, we got an answering machine and they never called us back. That was seven days ago and still no word. I have no idea if the part functions well because it doesn't fit his lathe. I just wish they'd get back to us and talk to us. :(

Cannot find anything to complain about. It is not the faceplate fault that my tool caught so hard on my first intent, that there seems to be a slight wobble now. It is more probably the main shaft that really got a very bad hit. Shame on me.

More holding power for large logs for turning.

It looks great just what I needed, used to secure wooden bowl blank to lathe.

Does what it's supposed to do. Too bad it's made in China.

This product is well made and worth every penny.
