Truly waterproof! (Saved my sofa!)
We're in the process of introducing our two year-old daughter to the wonderful world of potty training. Instead of using training diapers/pull-ups (which pull moisture away from the skin), we decided to go with training underwear, which would allow our daughter to feel wet and promote body awareness, as well as motivate her to use the potty. But, at the same time, it would've been completely impractical to follow our active 2-year old around all day with a waterproof pad in order to protect our upholstered furniture and carpet from accidents. So we needed training underwear with fabric on the inside (next to her skin), but a waterproof layer on the outside. Vinyl pants were out because of the toxicity of PVC. So that left training underwear like the Blueberry Training Pants, which have an inner cotton or fleece layer, with a water-resistant PU (polyurethane) layer to prevent leaks. However, at $15-20 a pop, not only are these training pants expensive, but in my experience, they're also not waterproof. They contain small amounts of pee for short periods of time, but you have to notice accidents quickly (or your child has to tell you right away), otherwise they will leak and let moisture through. And though 100% cotton training pants (like the ones made by Gerber) are much cheaper, more wearable and breathable, they're not waterproof. These Potty Patty training pants were the perfect solution for us. They're made of nylon, so they're waterproof without the health concerns related to vinyl. Our daughter was able to wear them over her cotton training pants and they completely contained her pee accidents, while still allowing her to feel wet. The waistband and leg openings are made of a snug but gentle elastic, so they prevent moisture from leaking out without being too tight or constricting. Our little-one played and sat freely all over our couches, carpets, rug and upholstered dining chairs without us having to worry about cleaning up wet accidents. At just under ten dollars for a pack of two here on Amazon, these waterproof pull-on pants combined with 100% cotton training underwear (which you can buy in cheap multi-packs), are a much more economical alternative to the Blueberry-type training underwear. Not to mention a lot more effective at containing wet accidents.Grade: A-

Highly recommended for car rides with a potty-training toddler
I bought these for my 20 month old, who I'm currently potty training. He's only 10 days into it, but doing a pretty decent job, so I bought these to make me more comfortable with leaving the house with him. I put these on when we get in the car over his training underwear (it's summer, so I don't bother putting pants on him until I take him out of the car), and they do an excellent job of holding in the pee. They're super thin and light-weight, not bulky or plastic-y like I was expecting, so when I took them out of the packaging, I doubted they'd work very well. I was wrong! They have held in quite a bit of pee - the only time there was a leak was when I hadn't pulled them up over the underwear on his back, so that was user error, not product malfunction. That said, these were relatively short car rides, about 30 minutes tops, so I can't speak to long road trips, but if you're potty training, you should probably be stopping on the reg anyway, to have your kiddo empty himself out.The sizing is right - My son is around 33 lbs, 30-35" tall (it's been a couple of months since he was measured), and a medium is perfect on him.The price is pretty good for something reusable. I've washed them in the washing machine, dried in the dryer, and they were totally fine. The only thing I can't speak to is poop, as he has yet to do that in them, but I don't see why that would be an issue.

Don't buy these! Beware, the sizing is way off!
Don't buy these! Beware, the sizing is way off! I ordered the XXL 44-49lbs for my 60lb child and they were WAY too big! They are bulky and the waist comes up several inches past the waist of the pants, definitely a negative for a school-ager. :( Customer service is no help either! They won't take them back since I opened the package, even though they haven't been used. They sent me a RMA but couldn't guarantee a refund, and since there's a 15% restocking fee and $3-4 shipping costs, it's not worth the gamble! I spent $10 but I'd only get $5 back after all is said and done, so I'll just donate them to a shelter or diaper drive. I'm sure someone can use them.

Excellent when used properly
I have used these as well as the Gerber training pants. These pants are a much better fit, they are a more flexible fabric, and they are much softer. Anytime you use plastic pants like these, you need to use the padded training underwear underneath. If you use regular little girls' underwear, there will just be a big puddle in the plastic pants when you try to clean up. With the padded training underwear and these plastic pants, I have never had a leak. I take my toddler out in public while training and he has peed in the car and in stores and I don't even notice until he tells me or I take him to the bathroom. I have toilet trained 2 children using them.

Great for nighttime training!
These have been great for nighttime potty training. We pull them on over a regular (or extra padded) pair of undies - just in case! Has allowed me to stop buying disposable training pants. I recommend!

Good for potty training
I have recently started potty training my 3 year old son. He is 41 pounds but very tall and thin, so I decided to order the size Large instead of the X-Large. I am glad I did, as these seem to run big. If your child is husky or has chunky thighs, then I would order the recommended size. I use them over his cotton "big boy" underwear. These pants do a good job of keeping his clothes dry. The elastic is soft and not too tight around the waist and thighs but is secure enough not too leak. When he has an accident, I stand him in the bathtub so it is easier to clean him up. Otherwise, you might have a mess on the floor. Overall, I am satisfied with them and will continue to use them. I gave it four stars instead of five only because of the sizing.
