Great for all levels of birders!
I never really thought I would get into bird watching. Than I went to Belize anad after that Costa Rica and signed up for some bird watchiing tours and became hooked. Next I got my own binouclars, started putting up feeders and taking walks with the purpose of finding birds. Finally figuered I needed to read up on the hobby of bird watching and I found Bird Watches Digest. First of all it is a bit smaller than I would like and thus a little bit hard on my eyes (about the size of an old tv guide). However it was filled with lots of great information and stories. As a novice bird watcher in Las Vegas some stories and articles just did not relate to me and one or two articles per magazine were too detailed for my liking. But all in all the issues are informative and well done and I have kept all my issues for future reference. This is a great magazine for anybody who enjyoys watching birds from the casual weekend birder to the die hard watcher who wants to do a big year.

lots of good information
Just got my first issue of Bird Watchers Digest. It has lots of very good information. I'm not an avid birder, I just like birds. Cameras and spotting scopes are not part of my kit. I don't need to know every variation of each kind of bird. That said, I like reading about the habits and habitats of different kinds of birds. I loved the story about ravens in this issue. I look forward to the next issue with pleasure.

Like: The magazine keeps me tied into bird populations and what we can do to help them.

Kind of a bore...
I bought a subscription for both myself and my mother as a gift. Neither of us enjoyed it. This magazine seems to pull most its content from everyday people who, freely, give them photos of birds they captured themselves. (Captured images...not birds). For me, and my mother who LOVES bird watching, the magazine was a bore. Not very insightful or engaging. To sum it up, I was disappointed and my mom told me not to bother renewing her subscription. I won't be renewing mine either. I was really hoping this magazine would be full of professional/expert tips and features on various bird life and the plants (regionally) that attract/feed them. It has some of the latter, but again, it really seems like its own readers provide the content. I don't know - just not for this bird lover.

Who Knew Birds Were So Interesting?
This magazine has been very informative and enjoyable for our family of bird watchers. The articles are usually educational or humorous, or both! Excellent photography. Topics might include not only birds but equipment for bird watching, awesome places to see specific birds and when, environmental issues or "laugh-out-loud" bird watching experiences. For the thinking bird watcher as well as the backyard bird feeder enthusiast. Try it!

Best bird-watching magazine
Love this magazine! The articles are interesting and informative, the photos are beautiful, and I love the small portable size. This is the best bird-watching magazine I've found, and I especially like that sometimes there are articles on extinct birds.

Okay
I thought it would have different kinds of birds with descriptions and information about each bird we might encounter ii our yards, walks, forest preserves. It had a lot of long boring articles, and a lot of advertisements, and not enough about birds, and bird information. I love birds, and have many kinds that visit my feeder, but would not reorder.
