Works like it should
Works like it should. I have a Reverse Osmosis water filtration system in my detached garage. I use it to create water for my saltwater fish tank. The filter dumps water into a 35 gallon trash can and I use this pump to transfer the water from the trash can directly into the fish tank in the house. I run a 4 foot hose from my garbage can to the pump; then a 100 foot hose from the pump to the fish tank. The only lifting the pump has to do is about 4 feet which it the top of my fish tank, so the run is mostly level. It pumps water at about the same speed as you would get if you attached the hose to an outdoor spigot on city water. The pump is fairly loud but it should not pose an issue unless it is running constantly right by your head as you are trying to sleep. It does get significantly louder when it runs out of water to pump (You aren't supposed to run it while dry anyway). It comes with replacement parts (blades for the pump) which I assume you would need to you run it dry or suck omething into it that breaks the blades.

Not Suitable for Long Line Operations-Weak Pump
Unfortunately I went by one of the reviews, which was wrong and purchased this pump. I'm transferring water from a 55 gallon drum , mounted 4 feet high through 100 feet of 5/8 inch garden hose and over level ground and also from one big 600 gallon tank to smaller tanks. Unfortunately the persons who wrote these other reviews are not experienced with pumps apparently. This pump works by the impeller creating a friction seal as the rubber impeller which is symmetrical rotates in an asymmetrical pump housing, and uses a standard 1/10 hp, brush AC motor. I disassembled the pump which is made in China and thought the workmanship quality and material quality was poor and I remain uncertain how long this pump will run. It is really working hard and is loud and whines when pumping through a 100 foot hose and the sound is quite annoying.Typically that means a short life. The hotter a pump runs and near its rating the less time it lasts typically. While the pump says it is self priming, requiring only some water in the inlet and outlet ports, the pump was unable to to pull water DOWN from the 4 foot high barrel and even when primed, the pump was unable to maintain a continuous flow of water except at a very low PSI rate, which manifested itself in only a few PSI at the outlet end of the 100 foot hose. And this was over level ground. Adding an expensive check vale is must for this pump if your trying to pull water from a rain barrel or through a filter. You won't have enough pressure with this pump to spray and at about six feet of hose height at the outlet end the pump slows to a trickle through 100 feet of 5/8 garden hose. Also with this pump I advise to make the impeller last you add a bit of vegetable oil to the inlet and outlet ports and it helps quiet the pump down.It does work and moves the water out of the rain barrel or bigger storage tank but not well at all. Fundamentally this pump does not have enough HP. If you want to move a lot of water and to have go over 50 feet and up any hill or if you want pressure for spraying this simply is not the pump you want. I really take issue with the reviews written about this pump, and did some calculation and it determined for 100 feet you need at least 1/2 hp with 5/8 hose if you want to be able to spray with sufficient nozzle pressure.I would recommend buying the Wayne Stainless Steel 1 HP for water barrel applications. That pump is overpowered meaning it will last much longer. You can buy them on Amazon. Its about 2x this pumps price but you won't have to replace this one like I just did. What is this pump good for, well infrequent and small applications such as pumping water out of waterbed. Unfortunately I need to use the pump several times a week and its is just too weak for my application. The reviews that state this is suitable for moving water out of rain barrel through 100 foot hose are wrong. It is not unless you have the patience of job and don't mind the noise and don't want to spray and pump only infrequently.Overall I don't think this pump is any worse or any better than any of the 1/10 HP, made in China, brush AC moter water pumps.I wish someone had advised me on how weak these 1/10 hp foreign made pumps are. Also if your operating this pump at any distance from an outlet, you should use the shortest possible extension cord and a 12 AWG type of cord as it can't take any type of voltage drop or the power just disappears. You also need to remove any flow restrictors in your hose when using this pump if you want to improve the outlet any PSI.It may work better with a 3/4 in hose but I don't want to have to lug one of those around the garden.I have a masters degree in electrical engineering, so I think I am a well qualified reviewer, compared to other reviews so hopefully amazon will allow my honest review to be posted and people who need the bigger 1 hp wayne pump with step up to it without wasting money on this tiny under powered pump!I hope to save you the time , money and frustration and be forthright.

Beats the heck out of carrying buckets up the stairs!
I love this pump! As a reef keeper I use it for transferring mixed saltwater from my cans in the basement to my tanks on the first floor. With its incredible head pressure it has no problem moving the water through 25' of garden hose, up the stairs, and up another 5' to the tanks. Its' floor attachment it is also great for cleaning up any minor (or major!) spills or floods of which I have more than my share. The included rebuild kit is a good bonus when the time comes but so far its still in the bag. I waited over a year (I think) to write this review because I wanted to see how it held up to saltwater, I had my doubts but I can honestly tell you I have had zero issues with this pump. It does exactly what I bought it for, you cant beat the price if you need something like this, and additional rebuild kits can even be bought here on Amazon as well if needed, assuring a long useful life. As with any external pump don't run it dry, I add RODI water to each port before connecting my hoses and it fires right up moving gallons of water much faster (and cleaner) than lugging buckets up the stairs. This is a real back and labor saver with many uses or ways to make your life easier.

Ok but not much water pressure.

Small but Works
Thsi is a fairly small pump, which is good because too big a pump would put too much pressure on the hoses. It is a very noisy pump but I ran it for about 40 minutes straight and it worked fine. It does come with spare burshes and a spare impeller. The 4 star rating I gave it is because it only offers a 90 day warrenty. Not a lot of manufacturer confidence there! It works, what more can I say.

Does what it says
I purchased this pump last year. I am using rain barrels to catch water. I use the pump to water the garden. It will empty a 60 gal rain barrel in about 8 to 10 min. pushing through a 100 foot hose. You should not restrict the flow by shutting off the hose nozzle. This could cause the pump to over heat and burn out the impeller. I like that the pump comes with a rebuild kit. I hope that this does not mean that it will stop working soon. I have used it several times now to transfer water from barrels on one side of the house to the other, and to water the garden. Has worked every time. I feel this is a good sound pump If you follow the instructions. Do not run dry and I always prime first.I would recommend.

Pumps a little slower than expected, but gets the job done.

Worked well until it failed spectacularly
I used this pump to transfer water for my fish tanks. It worked well for a year or so but after a while it started shooting sparks 2 feet into the air when plugged in (even after changing the brushes) and then it finally failed spectacularly shooting the housings out that hold in the brushed and shooting sparks everywhere. Also a weak spot on the pump is the plastic housing that holds the brushes in, you can easily crack them if you screw them in too tight, they could have used a much higher quality plastic. Bottom line get a Wayne pump.
