Honesty, I can't say either they work or not. After a break of 12+ years and with inconsistent swings, my neighbor invited me out for a round of golf at our local par3 course. I dreaded to play since back then I had a terrible slice correcting it with a hook. A bad one as well! I didn't have a set of clubs and used my neighbors extra set he had. Bought a 12 pack of recycled 2 piece Callaways from the pro shop, teed up and off it went slicing right losing sight of it. Took a mulligan and hooked landing about 10 yards from the middle of the fairway. I'll take it! That round I lost 6 balls due to either a slice, hook or water hazard. Began going out more often with my neighbor that I ended up buying a set of used clubs. Taylormade RAC OS... Must've been the clubs since I fairly kept my shots playable in the fairway majority of the times playing with the leftover Callaways I had and losing 3 balls. But I still hooked or sliced. Just not as bad as 12 years ago. I wanted to improve my game just a tad more so I started looking around on the internet to help me. Read about the Wilson Ultra 500 Straight and the Polara bought a pack of both to try them out on our next round. After receiving them both I couldn't wait for my neighbor I HAD to go give them a try and played a solo game. First tee was the Wilson. Excellent feel from the face, ball flight, good trajectory and right down the middle of the fairway landing approximately 95 yards with a PW. Teed up the Polara aiming at the pin with arrows as stated on the sleeve and same height as the Wilson. Polara had excellent feel off the face. Trajectory was fairly low and had somewhat of a slice. Ball came to a stop approximately 85 yard and about 10 yards to the right of the middle of the fairway. Like I mentioned I have an inconsistent swing. So it's possible that my swing caused it. Wilson did great on the green. Good stopping power set up for my 3rd shot. With the Polara you can either play it as it lays or touch the ball and aim using the arrows. I played as it laid. I know the arrow marked on the ball wasn't aimed to the pin as you can see from the dimple arrangement. Polara also had good stopping power. Used a LW for both. Second hole... PAR 4... 233 yards... Wilson was first up. Teed up as normal with the middle of the ball to the crown of my driver. R580 10.5 degrees. Again, excellent feel... good trajectory and right down the middle of the fairway at 205 yards. I'm liking the Wilsons and my game is slamming so far! Next up is Polara... Teed high as its states... I'd say 1/4 of the bottom of the ball with the crown of my driver. Here goes nothing... Great feel... Again, low trajectory and little of a slice at 180 yards. Must've been my swing... No one was tailing me so I teed up another Polara same way. Aiming at the pin and height. What the 😳!!! Same results. I couldn't believe it so I teed up another... This flew somewhat straighter and trajectory was fairly higher. Came to a stop approximately 195 yards and 5 yards to the right of the middle of the fairway. So to make a long review short, they really don't do much for me. At the end of the round I had an equal results on both. At times the Wilsons would slice but still close to the middle of the fairway. Trajectory and distance was excellent at every hit, and good stopping power on the green. The Polara also was the same. So to be frank I can't give an honest review since they both performed quit the same with me although i did lose 2 Polars going into the water. I didn't lose any of the Wilsons. Gave 5 stars because they are still excellent. Don't expect these to fly perfectly straight and go where you want them to go. My game has definitely improved and I can FINALLY enjoy around or 2!

Straight to the point:These Polara Ultimate Straight golf balls work. (at least with my swing type)PROs (my personal experience):* My drives are straighter, saving me steps, embarrassment, yardage, and strokes.* After three rounds of golf I have not lost a single golf ball thanks to the ball flight.* My confidence has (is) increasing off the tee AND on approach.* I have cut off a minimum of 1 stroke per hole on anything longer than 300 yards. (I have a bad slice)* White coloring of the cover is clean and bright.CONs:* Cover is getting pretty chewed up after only three rounds and I may have to junk it after the next round. (my Callaway balls tend to be in about the same condition except they tend to hit trees, roads, and/or cars anything on the right side of the golf course)* Putting seems to take a stronger hand than other name brand golf balls.* Maybe it is my imagination but I swear that the ball does not have the same bounce or roll as a name brand ball.* The required need to align the golf ball every shot gets a little frustrating but it is worth it.I really wasn't sure about these "75% self correcting" golf balls. I had watched a couple of videos (Rick Shiels) and read some of the reviews and decided with was worth the cost to try. My slice was causing me so many issues that hitting the ball was becoming a serious mental challenge.From the first swing I began to hit fairways. I use to hit a fairway once or twice a round and now after three rounds I have hit all but seven fairways. (I track my rounds. Two shots could be argued that they were push shots and the other five shots were long shots into the rough on dog legs. I normally never hit that far due to my slice but now my driver is taking me distances I haven't gone since my early 20's.)For the record, I have played three par 4/5 holes this week with a Pro V1 and a Callaway ball hoping my new found confidence would translate into a straight drive off the tee but sadly that did not happen. The Callaway was lost forever and the Pro V1 drives all ended up on the adjacent fairways. This made me more than a little sad but it also caused me to believe more in the Polara Ultimate Straight ball and to write this review.Keep in mind that this ball seems to work for me but that does not guarantee that it will work for your swing. However, I would suggest strongly that you give these golf balls a try for yourself. I bought these balls hoping to cut down on my frustrations with my game. I have had a HORRIBLE slice that I just can't seem to break. I know what my problems are, and are working on them. In the mean time I wanted to actually enjoy a round of golf instead of spending my times in the roaming fields looking for my ball. These balls work. From the first tee off I noticed immediate correction. I point the ball where I want it, it goes. I had read reviews on these balls and just like in previous reviews there is a trade off; you lose overall distance on your drives. Which would you prefer? searching the roughs, tree lines and parking lots for your drive? Or Lay up a little short but on the fairway every time? I noticed on average about 200-220 yard drives but always where I aimed the ball.Pros:It goes straight. Does exactly as it is intended to do.Worked well in high wind. I played recently in 20+ MPH wind, and it still performed.It let me enjoy the game.Cons:Loss of distance. The ball will seemingly drop from the sky, but on the fairway.Super solid. It really felt like hitting a rock.Somewhat unwieldy on greens. It couldn't make up its mind on if it wanted to roll forever, or stop in its tracks. I may also attribute this to the course conditions...We recently had some horrible flooding here and the course was under water for some time.Overall, I am extremely happy with this purchase. I have only played one round with them, but came out extremely satisfied. I completely expected to lose several balls like I always do, and I happily finished the round with the ball I started with.I will update this review at a later date when I get some more rounds in and as such only giving 4 stars as I have yet to experience long term playtime.

I have mixed feelings about this ball.The good news is this: They go strait. Dead strait. No matter what craziness was going on in my swing, the thing flies strait. However, I use the word "strait" loosely. If you hit the ball properly, it will fly just like any other ball... nice and smooth trajectories that give you great distance without any of the draws or fades. If you hit it incorrectly, the balls trajectory is of that of pure Hogwarts magical tom-foolery. It's like watching a knuckle ball, or Ronaldo kicking a direct into the upper right corner. It flies almost randomly for the first 100yrd while it corrects your complete lack of talent with a driver, then drops out of the sky like anything that has ever gone head to head with an F15. I have been able to drive 330yrd greens before, and the furthest I could get this ball to go was about 215... it's almost like hitting a dead ball because so much of the energy is used up correcting your swing action. Basically, you hit off the tee like an 70-80yr old man: About 200yrds, and always in the fairway.Hitting the ball from the fairway with an iron is surprisingly normal. If you aren't a play it as it lies golfer, I guess you could line it up again and swing away, but I didn't do that. I just hit it normal, and it acted normal. I did however notice that my natural "fade" with my irons did in fact go away, however I didn't lose any distance at all with my irons.Putting... I don't know about. I'm not the greatest putter, but I felt on multiple occasions that the ball broke a bit later than I had anticipated... as in, the faster I put, the more direct the line stayed, regardless of the break, but as the ball slowed down, it would break much harder than I would read... very strange behavior from a ball on the green, but nothing that made me put any better or worse than normal.Overall, the fact is this: I played with 1 ball for an entire round. I usually give up 4 or 5 strokes to lost balls in a round, so if nothing else, using this ball made me that much better off to start. However, I'm not convinced that the 70 or so yards on average I lost on every single drive, is worth gaining those strokes back on the back end... There where a couple of holes that I should have had a chip to the green, that were out near 80 and 90yrds, and 2 par 5 holes that took every bit of 2 healthy fairway clubs to reach the green, instead of getting that nice 20yrd chip on the green in 3. You could argue that after losing a ball you have to hit the same shot again so you aren't really losing yardage... just cashing it in early... and while that makes a compelling argument, I feel like I would need to play many many rounds over the course of a year to determine if it really is worth losing the yardage.As my 3 star rating indicates, I have mixed feelings about playing this ball.

honestly love these Polara Self-Correcting Golf Balls. As someone who tends to fight slices and hooks, these balls made a noticeable difference almost immediately. My drives stayed straighter, I spent less time searching for lost balls, and overall it made the game way more enjoyable and less frustrating.What surprised me most was that they still feel solid off the club face and don’t feel cheap or gimmicky. The distance was still impressive, and around the greens they performed better than I expected. They gave me more confidence on the tee box because I knew a bad shot wasn’t going to curve wildly into the woods.Overall, these golf balls have honestly helped improve my enjoyment of golf. They’re perfect for casual players who want straighter shots, lower scores, and a more fun experience on the course. I’ll definitely be buying more.

These do exactly what they say, fly straight. However the straighter ball flight comes at the price of distance. If you're a higher handicap golfer and you need to put something down the center of a tight fairway, get these balls.

I'm a 16 handicap with a life long semi-rare death slice. When I don't turn my hands over on a drive or with a wood, people two holes are in imminent danger. My irons are fine - they rarely slice, I can chip and putt and my sand game is good. But if I REALLY try, I can literally slice a golf ball 90 degrees - 220 yards out and 80 yards right. It's an awesome Phil Mickelson-like skill for the 400 yard dog leg right holes because I'm 80 yards from the pin on a dry day but a fade is a tough shot for me because I can snap hook it just as far left when I over correct.Welcome to middle of the road golf USA - moderate native ability and some craft but I do love the game and guys like me keep golf companies in business. To all the purists out there appalled by this sort of "technology", I've taken years of lessons from state amateur champs, PGA professionals and low handicap buddies - I've tried hard to fix this malady with professional help (like a lot of my bad habits). I can shoot 82 on a good day and 95+ on a really bad day on relatively tough private courses. I'll also bet that Jack Nicklaus thinks that ugly new white Taylor Made driver is pretty much a Polara ball with a handle.Obviously, these balls are meant ONLY for screwing around or playing best ball with your buddies or messing with people (unless you have NO golf pride and are a tool by nature.) Using Polaras in leagues or any other sanctioned event is cheating, a doucher move and USGA illegal. On the fun side, I tried REALLY hard tonight on a very familiar course to make these balls slice and the best I could do was a 15 yard fade. They definitely do NOT go as far as a Titleist Pro V 1 and when I hit a Titleist pure, I can still hit it 260 yards, but many times I'm playing Daniel Boone looking for it in the woods. You certainly cannot "work" this ball and my Mickelson-like slice ability which comes in really handy at times is totally wasted with these balls. The solution there is to drive the Polara and drop a Titleist on the second shot - but only for fun.The best I can hit one of the Polaras is about 230 yards but it does go straight. So ask yourself - 15% less distance but straight - what do I want? I did crack a couple about 240 yards but I had to really rotate and I'm not young anymore (55). I will admit that these balls make tight holes a lot more fun because it's not going into the junk. One caution here - these balls do reguire SOME skill to hit. If you're a really high handicapper with a Charles Barkley swing and one of those guys who will not benefit from voodoo, prayer or 20,000 hours of lessions, save your money and keep buying those X-outs. If you are one of those relentless, ruthless and completely annoying 14 handicap "rules weenies" (and you KNOW who you are) you're going to hate these balls and you will be vigilantly checking everyone you play against in your lame-ass Thursday night men's league to be sure it's not a Polara on the tee. You need therapy more than I need lessons. But for screwing around, having some fun and maybe giving your ego a break on a rough golf day, these balls are great medicine!

This is a neat little product. It definately performs as it suggests. I am 5'7" 150 lbs. On my average drive, I hit it 230, give or take 10 yards or so...and on a round of 18, I shoot about a 90-100. I sometimes have a slice or hook to my shots...depending on how my swing is going for the day. With this ball though, after playing 18 holes, I didn't hook or slice a ball all day off of the tee box. I didn't always hit the fairway (poor aim on my part), but the ball did go straight, only varying by I would guess 10 degrees or so. For me, that is huge. The mental game of golf is much better controlled when I am not on the hunt for a ball that went off target and into deep rough or among a patch of trees. I tend to find the largest one on the course without fail.There are a few things that need to be said about it, not that they are negatives.1. The arrow on the ball is designed to aim down the fairway. It might look a bit fishy if you are sitting there "aiming" your ball...but I would just say "it's the perfectionist side of me"...even though that side doesn't exist. :)2. The ball does seem to generate a lot of top spin, which doesn't allow it to fly as far as a normal ball. I would estimate that I lost about 10 yards per drive...but that was a very minor sacrifice compared to hunting for a lost ball. Because it never really got to the usual height of a typical drive of mine, I finally got smart as the day went on and I played the ball more off of my left foot and teed it up a bit higher. That seems to have fixed my problem with it. The other part is that because of the top spin, I did generate a lot of roll...and playing on a dry course, it would tend to roll for a much longer time than I am used to.3. In my experience, the ball is best used off of the tee box. That's not to say that it plays differently after you walk up to it for your second because it isn't aligned. I had no problem what-so-ever hitting my 2nd shot at all. It played normal, even on the putting green.Even with these draw backs, this is the only ball I will play with on par 4s and 5s. For par 3s, I found that the decreased elevation seemed to throw my game off for the short holes, but that is where a normal ball comes into play. Problem solved. I am very pleased with this product..and after I lose them (somehow) I'll be back to purchase more, without hesitation.

I paid R870 for a dozen, which may seem steep for golf balls, but they perform exceptionally well. Since my slice now lands on the first cut or edge of the fairway instead of the rough, I'm not losing as many balls, making them more cost-effective in the long run. I've played three rounds with the same ball, whereas I usually lose around three per round. However, they do tend to scuff more easily than the harder shell balls I typically use. The distance with my driver and fairway wood is slightly reduced (by about 10-20 metres), but the trade-off is worth it as they fly straight.

Voodoo going on here line them up and fire them straight, they don’t go as far as a conventional ball and you have to line them on each shot but if you want to enjoy golf again even though they’re expensive I thought they were great

I read about the Polara balls in one of the golfing mags they hand out at courses...and I was massively sceptical, thinking it highly doubtful that they would work.I have problems with a fade on all my tee shots when using woods...it's not really a slice as such, but I always end up yards and yards from my target line.So I gave these balls a try...and, I have to say, that actually bl**dy work!I can now tee off with anything up to a driver and it goes lovely and straight.Yes, they aren't "legal" and yes perhaps my new improved tee shots aren't anything to do with me or my skill...but at my beginner level these are a welcome addition to my bag. I'll keep practicing at the range with normal balls so will get better with time, but for now seeing a tee shot go high long and straight and ending up on the fairway giving me a decent second shot is just priceless...and its rekindling my love of the game.The shot doesn't maybe fly as high as a normal ball, so perhaps not as long...but a slightly longer shot from the fairway is better than a shorter shot from the rough.I suspect they won't stop a huge slice, but if like me it's more of an unwanted fade than a full on slice...give them a try.Oh, and as for putting, I didn't really notice any difference in feel to the Srixon AD333 I usually use.
