Goats, horses, and more… oh my… it works amazing!
Perks of this are:1. I can use it on my pet goat (horse companion only without dairy or food animal future) without my livestock vet screaming that it is not food animal approved. I had investigated using dog products like seresto collars and frontline plus/gold prior to finding this on my livestock vet’s firm suggestion. Deer like getting into one of the fields that my horses and goat go into. That means ticks also like being there. My goat had started getting ticks on her and I needed an immediate, quick reacting solution.2. It can be used on the horses as well if I want to. Even a very large horse requires less than with other products like equi-spot. It is substantially cheaper than equi-spot with it running a few cents compared to several dollar for same treatment period.3. It takes extremely small amounts to work. In fact a neighbor who has a goat herd is splitting the bottle with me as otherwise it will take me this year and next to use it all. It will take her and I both all this year and potentially into next year’s insect season to use this one bottle even with her treating ten 75 to 100 pound goats along with one 80 pound at my farm and 5 horses totaling just under 4,000 pounds.4. It takes care of lice on goats amazingly well (neighbor had an issue when she added a newbie to her herd and it cleared it up within hours). Now the bad things:1. If the animal is sensitive, has allergies, or has the “black coat” issue (some black colored animals have a different texture to their coats), then you may end up with a bald animal where you have applied this due to a chemical type burn. I would suggest using only a portion of this if you have an animal who may have an issue to see prior to using. However, the two black animals which it was applied to (both reacted to it) lost hair on only a portion of the applied line. Whether or not you would see a reaction where you do a test of the product would be questionable.2. Not easy to apply at all for someone who is not used to doing similar product. I am used to dealing with these sorts of products. I have used them for many years. However when it comes to the volume that needs to be applied per animal and have it go down their topline and down face that’s an issue. I found it super hard for me to even to get the teeny tiny amount of product to go the entire coverage area and I was using a small 3 ml syringe with a dispensing non-sharp 23 gauge tip on it. Literally I had to apply more than suggested in order to do the entire coverage area. This however was not on the two black animals that had the reaction (so extra product did not cause). The animals who had extra amounts applied to did not have any reaction whatsoever.3. Works but doesn’t work. I found that it was extremely helpful in keeping ticks off of the horses when they went out. However, as far as flies, I didn’t see too much of an improvement in the numbers or types they were being afflicted with. It did keep ticks off of the goats as well. And as mentioned above, the lice attack on my neighbor’s herd disappeared within hours. We are located in an extremely hot and humid area and even in May (although seasonally got warmer faster than usual) was experiencing same issues.4. Wish that they would approve and put on packaging placement of the product on a horse like equi-spot does. Equi-spot works great but is unbelievably expensive compared to Ultra Boss. The chemicals are not the same as equi-spot is 55% permethrin and Ultra Boss is 5% permethrin plus 5% piperonyl butoxide. I do not see why it could not be used in the same manner as equi-spot with multiple application locations. Perhaps, that would assist in reducing the fly issues which have still remained with the horses.Am I going to keep using it?Yes. For the goats all the time usage will be in their future. For the horses, it is still a trial to see if I will return to equi-spot or continue with Ultra Boss. However, a minimum application of every 14 days is expected in my area.

Works pretty good
Works pretty good for about a week, then I reapply. The label says 30 days, but there is so much insecticide resistance now that a week is about all I've been able to get out of it. However it is very good for the week

Horses safer in the taller grass
I feel more confident the ticks will stay away from the horses legs in the tall grass when it is not cut down

Don't use on sensitive skin
Used this on 4 of my horses can only safely use it going forward on one of them. It works fewer flies and gnat bites! BUT...2 of the horses buck like crazy when it is applied which tells me it must burn. They otherwise do not act like that. The 3rd one did not buck but 2 days later had burns, blisters and hair loss. The pictures confirm a shedding coat however you can tell everywhere the Ultraboss was applied to or ran caused damage/injury to his skin. )-:
