Recipient, an excellent amateur artist, loved this book

Unfortunately I have to return the book because the corner got bashed in transit. It was in a sturdy envelope, but being an art book it is heavy and a corner got knocked (and creased) so the book isn't good enough to give as a present, as I had intended. Such a shame Amazon doesn't treat art books more carefully.The book itself is great content-wise.

The detailed description takes you to the painting. Each painting is described in such detail that you learn a lot about the painting and its author. I definitely recommend it.

Interesting book with good explanations everybody understands

I am using this book with my kiddos for our art history homeschool lessons. I love the format. Each painting is featured with a bit of background information about the painting and the artist. Then the book offers an upclose look at various features of the painting. My kids love looking at the paintings, and I love that the format makes teaching so much easier for me! No more digging around for information about the art. Everything that I need to get started is right there!
