OXO Good Grips Spring-Loaded Poultry Shears, Black

I like the simple design with the leaf spring and handle closure. I also like the cutting power through bones and skin thanks to the design and the serrated blade. I use mine to complete break down of game birds and chicken. It is easy to grip with both the power to cut through bone and the finesse to trim unwanted skin. It breaks down easily for complete cleaning. There is no space for moisture and waste to hide. It reassembles easily, and the end of handle lock keeps it closed and safe until the next use.

I love these poultry scissors It is a breeze cutting chicken wings with them. I am left handed and I have no issues using the scissors. They are comfortable in the hand. They come apart easily for cleaning which is a plus. I hand wash and dry them. The blade is longer than other kinds of poultry scissors I have tried in the past. These OXO scissors are of high quality. Sooooooo glad I have them.

OXO has only let me down once: I had to toss out one of their pepper mills because it kept jamming. Turn and turn and turn, and nothing but powder comes out. So you have to smack it on the counter once or twice to dislodge the offending peppercorn. Well, after doing that for a year or so, the screw-in cap to reload the corns jammed (plastic threads; what do you expect would happen). Bad design -- which is unusual for OXO.But these shears are wonderful, just what I have come to expect from OXO. The design is perfect: that flat-sided handle means you can get a good, strong grip when working with poultry (which always means slippery hands), and it also gives you far more leverage than you would have with traditional shears, because you're using the palm of your hand, not just your thumb.They come apart for cleaning, as all good shears do, very easily, and clean up well. They also have a nice, kind of authoritative weight to them: you know you're holding good quality. I have held shears heavier than these, and yes, they would last a lifetime. But I would take these over those any day. And these will probably still last nearly a lifetime!

These poultry shears do a great job. I had no trouble at all cutting through chicken bones while cutting up a whole chicken. These shears have a slightly shorter blade than my last OXO poultry shears and I felt like I had a short reach with these. However, the spring loaded flat handle makes it especially easy to cut bones and I quickly got used to it.I like that the shears come apart easily for cleaning. I would recommend these.

(UPDATE: As another person stated, the spring on this is weak. After only a couple uses, it no longer springs the shears back open. With no finger hold on the top, there is no way to use your hand to pull it back to the open position. I'm very disappointed these didn't turn out to be what I was looking for...however, they're the best thing I have on hand (hehe! get it?) for prepping cat food, so I have continued using them. They aren't quite as sharp as they were at first, which makes sense after cutting many bones with them, but they still cut bones, and the tip is still sharp enough to keep chunking up the meat. I might buy another pair one of these days. So, they didn't completely meet the need I had, but they're the best shears I've found so far. They would be absolutely perfect for normal kitchen use, so I'm upgrading the rating.)I feed my cats raw meaty bones, but I like to cut them up into chunks so feeding time will go a little quicker. I've been using a pair of Fiskars kitchen shears, and they barely did the job, but that was all I had. I have liked the OXO brand for several other utensils, and saw others who feed raw had given a good review on these, so I decided it would be worth a try. Then my Fiskars handle broke, so I was extra anxious for this to arrive! Yesterday I opened the package as soon as it arrived, and I prepared 10 days worth of feedings. They seem solid, are definitely sharp, and I like that they come apart for washing, and they have a simple locking mechanism. They cut through small bones like it's nothing. I had to work around the larger bones, such as the chicken thighs, but I just wedged it into the notch, and laid the shears on the cutting board so I could push down harder with my palm.I also noticed at one point that they weren't closing all the way, so I couldn't cut with the sharp pointy tip. That would have been a game changer for me! Upon closer examination, I realized the little plastic lock had flipped, and it was keeping the handles from closing all the way. No big deal. I kept an eye on it from then on, making sure it stayed open.I read where one reviewer said the placement of the notch makes you have to open them to an unnatural position for anyone's hand, and I did notice this, but I just shoved them forward onto the bone and they opened up just fine. I wouldn't try to cut anything larger than fish or fowl. I'd love to have a grinder that would do the job, but they're way too pricey! At this price, I might order another pair to always have one ready to go!I've only used them once, so I'll report back in a few months and upgrade to 5 stars if they're still going strong.

I've had these for over a year now and they are holding up great. I like the way they come apart to clean. And the locking handle to hold these together in the drawer is great. Very nicely made and work like a charm.

Bought this to quickly cut raw meat for recipes. It is made well, cuts up whole chickens, and makes quick work of raw meats for faster cooking. Be careful! Strong and sharp!

I needed a pair of kitchen shears for a lot of uses in preparing meals, from cutting meat with bones to prepping vegetables for recipes and salads. They're very sharp, so far they've held their edge well and they were inexpensive. I really like them and would purchase them again.

I bought these poultry shears as a replacement with my Henckel shears that have been in use for over 10 years. I use them exclusively for cutting up whole fryer chickens for making cat food. I'd debated sticking with my previous brand but decided to give these a try based on reviews and I wasn't disappointed. The ergonomics are a little bit different from my old shears, so it took a few episodes for my hand muscles to get used to them, but now I love them. They cut cleanly through meat and thin bones/joints; and I love the fact that they can be taken apart to clean them rather than having a fixed spring that can get food embedded or rust. Very happy with my purchase and would recommend them to anyone considering this product.

These are excellent quality, goes through bone easy. They are very well made, excellent grip, sturdy, comfortable, one snip and done. I brought as my cats are on raw feed and these shearers are perfect for cutting up meat and cutting through bone

Ich hatte vorher eine Geflügelschere von Zwilling, so einen fiesen Hautklemmer ;-)Ich bin sehr glücklich mit der Funktion dieser Schere, sie schneidet auch sehr gut.

鶏もも肉の塊が普通の包丁だと滑って思うように手早く切れなかったため、こちらを使用したら、とても簡単にできたので大満足です。ただ、うっかり自分の指まで切ってしまう怖さも感じたので、肉を持つ手は必ず耐切創手袋が必要です。お守り的な意味で、食肉解体のプロが使ってるアトムのスペクトラ手袋を使うことにしました。
