I know that's a super nerdy thing to be excited about but I love ...
I was always curious about these pens when I first saw it on a commercial. So I decided to finally get one and give it a try.First thing I noticed is the box has magnets. I know that's a super nerdy thing to be excited about but I love packaged with magnets our that are thoughtfully created. The pen itself very user friend as there are not many controls. It is simply the Mode for ABS or PLA (type of filament) Feed out and Feed in buttons. As for size it's not very big. I thought these pens would be gigantic because of it's function but it fits very well in hand. For safety there is also a built in sleep mode. When not in use for a certain amount of time the pen goes to sleep and does not continue to heat the pen. The heat up time is not very long so you can get to using it pretty quickly. It is packaged with two packs of multicolored filaments. So it is ready to use out of the box.So if you have never created work with a 3D pen much like myself, there is a learning curve on how to create with proper structure to keep the project from collapsing as well as pen hand speed. Overall very fun. And if you notice from my images I am kind of terrible but still had fun with the pen.

3D pen fun
So we bought this 3D pen to make some spider webs for some custom controllers we are designing and I have to say this pen was easy to use and setup. The pen came with 12 different colors filaments and they were easy to load and unload from the pen, it took a minute to learn how to set the speed of the filament coming out but once we got the hang of it the flow was perfect and easy to control. The 3D pen came with everything to get started, charging block, charging cable, 3D pen, 3D pen holder, and 12 different color filaments to get started, and the easy to read instruction booklet that explains how to setup and use the 3D pen. I have no artistic talent as you can see from my picture of my stick man, but my partner and her son had better outcomes than me . The pen was so easy to use even my partner 7 year old son had a blast using it, I would highly recommend this pen for anyone looking to get a starter 3D pen. I'll be updating this post with more pictures later!

Edit: replacement works great! Original: Ordered replacement not even 30 minutes into using :(
Edited due to replacement:So the 2nd pen works great! We couldn’t have had a better experience on the 2nd time around! Not only did we get a replacement from Amazon we got an email directly from seller/manufacturer apologizing for our bad experience, and stating that ours must be defective and that they would replace it, my reply to them was that we ordered a replacement through Amazon so no need to replace again. The pen itself works great, my daughter and I found some templates online to make a few things with it. We had absolutely no problems when loading and unloading the abs to switch colors, nor did the pen “chew” on any of the abs. This is one of my daughter’s Christmas presents that she still uses other than clothes.First and original review:Ordered for my daughter for Christmas. She got roughly 30 minutes of use out of it on Christmas morning and it stopped pulling in the filament. The pen heats up and both the nib and grey tip are hot. We tried multiple colors and if we let them sit and push the feed button a few times to get it to try and move the end gets bent and looks chewed on. Purchased this one because reviews said it was rechargeable, but if we take ours off the power cord it doesn’t work at all even after letting it “charge” I apologize for the video going all over the place but holding a phone and trying to attempt making it work doesn’t work out when you try it alone. Contacted amazon about replacement, it should be here Friday. I will update this review if 2nd one works, once the replacement arrives and my daughter gets to use it.

Update on Previous Review "Defective Pen"
Just received the pen last night and had so much fun using it. Today, however, as I was drawing with it, it started getting sporadic in its output, so I pressed the button to stop and then the button to extract the filament. The filament would not come all the way out, even with gently pulling, per the instructions, so now there is a plug of the filament inside the pen. It will not allow new filament to be introduced, nor will it extract. I am so disappointed, as I really liked the pen.Update:After watching several videos, I was able to disassemble the pen, remove the filament plug, and re-assemble the pen. It is working again, albeit with fewer tiny screws (Who knows where they landed?) I am finding that each color has a favorite temperature. Almost had a repeat of the clogging but was able to prevent it by waiting until the reverse cycle ended, pressing the forward button on and off, then pressing the reverse button, and pulling again. It worked, this time at least.Originally, I gave it 3 stars, but now I think it is worth 4. Would be 5 if it didn't have a tendency to jam during ejection of the filament. Other than that, I am having so much fun with it! Apparently, all the 3d pens have a tendency to jam.

The Grandchildren are going to love these!
Ordered 2 of these as Christmas presents for granddaughters, age 10 & 8. Because Christmas is over a month away, I thought it best to make sure they work so opened one and tried it. There is a definite need to read the instructions and a little patience in using but once I figured it out I feel confident that the 10yr. old will not only love it but will make many things with it. While I’m not as certain of the same for the 8yr. old, she will be quite disappointed if she didn’t receive one too. It doesn’t run on batteries but comes with a usb set up. So glad that I ordered extra filaments. This one is a win win!

Nice plastic melter/welder.
Works as intended and is a very nice product. Quality will get better as I use it. Durability will show over time and use. Easy to use? Again, in time I expect it will be easier to use. This isn't something you can get excelent results from right out of the box. As far as the design, It heats up fast, melts filament just fine but is not easy to get used to using straight away.
