Howrah Bridge

Great movie, very entertaining. Madhubala looks so beautiful, enchanting :) At the beginning, the story grabbed your attention, then continued to make one curious as to what happens next. Definitely a buy for all Madhubala fans! I only bought this movie because of Madhubala. Songs are great too.

Wonder dances

In the top three of Madhubala movies I've seen so far (six). I really enjoyed this one a lot. Fun plot, great scenery of old Calcutta, and some very nice song and dance scenes -- especially the one with Minoo Mumtaz! Soundtrack includes amazing, classic vocals of Geeta Dutt, Asha Bhosle, & Mohammed Rafi and is worth buying on its own (which I did). Madhubala gets an opportunity for more acting range in this film than others I've seen so far and comes across as a really fine actress -- impossible to keep my eyes off her! Likewise, Ashok Kumar is very good in this and it's a nice follow-up to their chemistry in Mahal. Just a delight to watch this film with all its uplifting, playful love songs and compelling mystery. Even the action sequence at the very end was riveting, though even after two and half hours I felt the film ended a bit too abruptly with the couple hopping on a plane and flying off to . . . Rangoon? Anyway, if you're a fan of classic Indian cinema I'd think this a must.
